Doubtful Morey will offer simmons without harden agreeing to an extension.

Trading Simmons for 1-2 year of harden would be a disaster.

Some of y’all listen to the politicians and media rather than look at what they actually do...and it shows.

I’m not saying Harden is 100% gone. I am saying we need to prepare for that, and we don’t know the depths of his intentions to leave.

he might sign the extension tomorrow. He also might refuse to show up. What then? You need a plan in place.

So far I’ve seen a lot of HOPE coming from the organization and ZERO from James Harden. Silas said he’s giving him space. The players are saying he will be there. James Harden is saying nothing.

I’m old enough to remember when the Heat drafted Napier and Lebron was meeting with Bosh and Wade on a plane. Organizations get desperate and do lots of things when they are trying to hold on.

We are definitely desperate. I think we made good moves in light of the circumstances. We switched Covington and Westbrook for Wood and Wall...2 players that in theory should be better fits with Harden. We picked up 3 picks along the way in order to facilitate deadline moves or to initiate a rebuild.

but all of that may not be enough. I’m just saying we need to be prepared. I don’t want a lame duck season where Harden remains vocal about wanting to leave, like AD was 2 seasons ago. I want to move on if that’s the case. Get the best offer you can, and move on.

There is no way I’m touching Klay Thompson and his contract with a ten-foot pole. I’d try to create a bidding war among Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto and Miami for Harden’s services. The team that is willing to offer the best young player (Simmons, Brown, Siakam or Adebayo) and picks lands him.

I think the Rockets can afford to sit this out. If Harden is for sure out, the season is a wash anyway, there's no way a sulking at home Harden can make it any worse

I’d say if your getting a Miami package bams off the table. Focus on Philly.

Miami would send herro, nunn, olynk, iggy and picks. That’s a last ditch package. Try to find common ground w Philly on simmons

the kings ,charlotte everyone on the table.
we should look for impact player or tons of high picks kings ransom..

best case scenario if wall and cousins play well its no rebuild at all and you get something good for harden.
    team looks like this

    wall
    gordon
    house
    wood
    cousins

6-8 seed? and who do you try to get for harden?

Zion and Hayes plus $ contracts. Start the rebuild with some exciting youth and playoff vets.

Herro isn’t good enough to headline a Harden package, and Bam is off the table until the trade deadline after signing his extension. I agree with you that Simmons is the best route, but I’d be fine with a deal around Jaylen Brown and a boatload of picks from Boston or Siakam and a similar amount of picks from Toronto, if it came to that.

Simmons and picks is option 1
Brown, Smart and picks is option 2
Bam or Siakam and picks is option 3

If the Nuggets were willing to trade Jamal Murray for Harden, that would be option 2 for me. (It will never happen, though)

Anyone is good enough to headline a package for Harden if there are enough first round picks involved. Honestly, Herro for such a young dude showed a lot last playoffs. He could be a good a good core piece of the future given we get a lot of first rounders also and chose wisely.

I like Herro quite a bit, but I would hold out for better offers if he’s the best young player Miami will trade. I’d have to get an obscene number of draft picks (more than the five OKC got for Paul George, at least) to make such a deal.

I maintain my position that if the Simmons trade is available you take it and don't look back. Ben Simmons is a legit young franchise cornerstone. I don't see any other player of that calibre getting offered around the league.

Boston for Brown/ Nesmith/ picks and filler.

Philly for Simmons - not sure you can play Simmons and Wall on the court at the same time?

GSW: Klay/ Oubre/ Wiseman and picks (re-route Wiseman for talent?)

    Miami: Herro plus picks?

    Nets: trash and picks

For me, Brown or Simmons. Simmons and Wall don't mesh, but are we committing the franchise to Wall?

Would like to reply to different posts but i'm just gonna summarize everything in one post.

Just get Simmons or Brown or Wiseman.

Miami isn't moving Bam, even for James imo, and Herro plus guys like Achiuwa, Nunn are just not enough.

Hell no to Murray and Siakam, both guys were really interesting before they signed those max deals, now that they get paid like true stars they don't look really appealing to me, Murray is a monodimensional player, pretty much a poor man Irving, Siakam is overall a better player i think, but he's also going to be 27 in few months and i just don't see how you can build a team around him...i'd actually take the Nets package over those two, Allen plus LeVert > Siakam/Murray for me, and that without considering the picks which would be more but also better coming from Brooklyn since that team would be much older.

Also, hello no to a team built around Wall, please...if we trade Harden the first thing we got to do is to trade Wall, hopefully if he plays ok teams like Knicks, Bulls, Denver, Indiana etc could be interested in getting him. If we're really going to trade Harden just to rebuild around Wall and Cousins...oh boy, that would be so goddam awful...

I think the “player empowerment” movement has gotten out of control and I wouldn’t mind punishing harden for behaving like this (if it continues). Take the very best deal we can get even if it sends him to the Knicks. Hell, trade him back to OKC for some of those picks! But we don’t owe him a fking thing. We gave him max contracts and every accommodation when it comes to the product on the court. His GM and coach catered to his ego. Time for a change. Time for Harden to be treated like a grown ass man.
