Gordon, Clemons, Portlands pick and 2 seconds for Aaron Gordon? I was out on Gordon for a while but the more and more he's mentioned in these forums the more i like it. Hes on a sweet contract too.
We have had so many roster changes probably better to wait and see where we are deficient before making trades.
Buddy Hield wants to be a 6er because Luke Walton refuses to give him starter spot. But Monte McNair doesnt want to trade Buddy, he has turned down offer of protected FRP. It will take multiple FRP to even get Kings on phone. Nevermind the issue of the salary that needs to be taken back. https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2020/12/buddy-hield-no-regrets-about-speaking-out.html https://www.sactownroyalty.com/2020/11/30/21754523/kings-mcnair-excited-to-have-hield Rockets need to figure out how to send 3 FRP to Kings. https://tradenba.com/trades/4Z4LOhwGk ORL: Buddy Hield, Nemanja Bjelica SAC: Thad Young, Eric Gordon, Mike Scott, Ryan Arcidiacono + Magic FRP + Rockets FRP + 76ers FRP CHI: Terrence Ross, Chris Clemons + Rockets SRP PHI: PJ Tucker, Justin James HOU: Aaron Gordon, Matisse Thybulle, Furkan Korkmaz, Shaq Harrison (SnT) Starters: 6'4 Wall, 6'5 Harden, 6'5 Thybulle, 6'8 AG, 6'10 Wood - 5 out O; switchable disruptive D Longer 3-D Bench: 6'4 Shaq, 6'5 Nwaba, 6'7 Korkmaz, 6'6 House, 6'10 Cousins, 6'3 BMac, 6'9 Bruno, 6'5 Brown
Need to send EGo & Tucker + 3 FRP for Hield. That strips us of 2 starters plus a ton of assets for a position we do not need. Hield for EGo and Tucker also considerably weakens our defense. Hield will go from a #2 to a #3 or even a #4 (behind Wood). That will devalue him AND make him more unhappy with his role (see EGo).
I'd rather find a top quality 3 than spend all those assets on another guard .... especially when you have almost 100m in cap space tied up at the position in Harden , Wall and EG.
I dunno why you wouldn't want Hield. Harden needs to play with shooters and he will be the best shooter Harden has ever played with. And he can create his own shot. He would by our Klay Thompson. Also he is bigger than Gordon so when he's plays the 3 or Harden plays the 3 we won't be extremely undersized like now.
Problem is Bucks traded 3 first round picks for Jrue Holiday. Rockets have to include a first to beg a team to take Eric Gordon. Chances of the Rockets parting with Eric Gordon and bringing in a really good player like Heild or Aaron Gordon are slim and none if just using one first rd pick. This’d is why I proposed lesser players like Larry Nance jr and Cedi Osman. Eric Gordon contract jumps up to 18.2M next season. Rockets have 5 players and a bunch of non guaranteed contracts putting us at $133M. Waiving all the non guaranteed contracts will bring the Rockets down to $120M. But expect Harden to sign the extension and be at around $50M next season.......meaning waiving all non guaranteed contracts brings us to $126M on 5 players (Harden / Wall / EG / CWood / D House). So that leaves about $7M in minimal contracts to 7 roster spots of 12 active players.....forget about two-way players and rookies to get to 15 players.
No doubt, but Aaron is not worth 3 1st round picks and we don't need Hield. Larry Nance should be targeted at the deadline. If EG is fit and utilized properly, he might regain some trade value along with picks.
Grant it, Eric Gordon scored high in PnR last season (we all know PnR ended after Capela trade) as 88 NBA percentile.......its a huge risk if EG gets an ACL tear or achilles tear. Rockets would be stuck with EG........Harden would request....No, demand a trade of him and his $50M contract. Harden sitting half a season while making $50M would drive “The Tilman” to fire everyone.....including Harden. Then ever greater bad times since Harden $50M trade would probably net trash like Nets scrubs + busted up Kyrie.
I don't think Harden is going to agree to any extension until or if he sees any sign of real success or commitment from the organization. Let's hope that Silas will utilize EG better than MDA. Injuries are part of the game. We have to live with them, but it's also possible that EG may come out unscathed. Let's hope for the best.
I think he will sign the extension knowing he can force his way out and every team willing to take that contract of $50M. Where I think you and I differ is Harden’s perception of the Rockets effort to spend money wisely and version of competing. Not trading EG and if e gets hurt looks like not caring......trading of Covington may not be enough. Trading EG for smaller pieces at SF/PF may appear to be greater attempts of competing now.....because the Rockets have McLemore, Green light, Nwaba, Sterling, M Jones (Harden was working out with Jones, EG?? I don’t know?)
You have made very good points, but I don't think the situation with EG might be as bad as you think, provided if he is physically and mentally ready to play.
Have to give up a FRP just to get rid of EGo's salary. And kings have already turned down 1 FRP for Hield.
But they do happen. And Rockets is the team that loves inserting itself into multi team deals. At least they were like that with Morey.
Not getting Hield then, bottom line. And his salary may be too big for us to absorb because it would require giving up Tucker or House + McLemore. Those players + multiple FRP are a lot of assets to give up. AG does not require more than EGo + pick(s). AG also provides Rockets another playmaker, upgrades defense, greater length and speeds up pace/transition efficiency. But most importantly addition of AG goes to position of need.
