Captain obvious stuff here. Controversial extension given under the old regime to a player that’s 6’4” and badly needs a SF. Not to mention, a desire to get younger. A complicated situation, no doubt, but one where you can both A) recognize EG’s on court value as an a solid two-way player and B) That he’s overpaid and we would easily move on if the right deal presents itself. The latter isn’t likely to present itself without considerable incentives on our end, hence why it’s probably 50/50 that we stand put going into the new season.
He definitely will be the first one out of the door if his shot is off and we need to upgrade at the deadline. Being actively shopped I highly doubt. This story of him and Harden is just nonsense.
Oladipo cant shoot, buddy is a sg with a great 3 point shot but his defense is inconsistent, if they do acquire buddy I would start him at the 3 for the sole reason to boost wall's value, then find a way to trade wall.
Let's not sell low on EG. He had a rough shooting year over a small sample size, but is our best perimeter defender, and actually looked really quick and athletic in the bubble. Unless we trade Harden and decide we want to rebuild, I'd rather keep Gordon and hope for a bounce back year instead of giving up on him at the worst time.
I do think Eric can be your backup combo guard on a championship team. The wing is a slightly bigger concern to me right now though. PJ, Cousins, and Wood are our three-headed monster frontcourt right now. But House is the only one with the size and versatility to start at the 3 (and even then, still our least talented starter). We have enough young, athletic guards on the roster to play passable minutes. Wing depth is sorely lacking
I believe that EG is still with the team because he was either being packaged in a harden or russ deal, or that we are actually looking for an equal talent in return. Perhaps losing EG for mere picks or scrubs will only strain the relationship with Harden. Its hard to believe no contender would want a player of his caliber who is all about the good of the team. Imagine another player of his caliber agreeing to play 6th man (despite clearly being the 2nd best player behind james), and years later be in and out of the starting lineup. Worse, to playthrough a decreasing role of watching beard go 5out iso or pick and roll 95% of the time. No one will, definitely not buddy hield or any player on our shopping wishlist. But we already know EG can live with that and still get his numbers.
LOL at anyone taking this ivergoat troll seriously “EG said Harden would show up with a beer belly according to sources” Really? Everyone should be able to tell this idiot is a troll.
i wholeheartedly agree. teams would love to get him on the cheap. His defense is what makes him so valuable and his shot came back in the playoffs. I don't even mind keeping him after trading harden because his numbers will go up and a contender will always want a player like him. he can fit on any team.
That happens only when shiet hits the fan and he’s close to a pay day. He should be feeling great right now.
Neither of the two will come here and come off the bench... don’t see it happening - more junk sources to create stories and generate clicks
Their is a chance that Gordon and P.J might play better with Wall. The first pre season game next week will be telling just from the initial chemistry
I came here for Eric Gordon photoshops.... I'm dissapointed. We've had the luxury of a guy who can drop 20 in his sleep off the bench. Can guard 1-3 positions. People hate him because he sucked balls last year statistically. Rockets should be careful dealing him since he's most valuable piece outside of PJ. Y'all should temper expectations of a trade. I believe he'll be back to form. And only way I'd move him is for a truely skilled small forward or 2 rotation players.
