So, it sounds like people want to compare:
    1. Making shitty, uninformed, counterfactual public policy that kills people... with
    2. Making sound, expert-informed public policy that can save lives but not always following the rules as an individual.

given the GOP in the current crisis, I have a good analogy for you:

    1. one party recommends no seat belts, no air bags and minimum speed of 80 mph. Yells “freedom.”
    2. other party recommends seat belts, 70mph maximum, but is occasionally caught doing 80.

really tough call, Fox and JR. I mean these are basically the same, yeah.

#1 rides in the safest car in the world has the best doctors and facilities and doctors and standby, and invests money on companies which profit off road deaths, injuries, and damages

#2 fights for the best and affordable care for people who get into these accidents

    Politicians
    Surprise !

that’s why people who really change lives like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk don’t have to play pretend to the public

you see their spaceships taking people to space you see self driving cars
You see the best e-commerce site on the planet
You see all your goods delivered to you next day
Without dealing with suckers at Walmart

    I agree with this.

Hypocrisy regardless of party should be called out. That said we have to weigh all of this with what they are doing overall. Mayor Adler should be called out for not following rules that he put in place and for at least tone deafness. He should apologize for it. Whether he should resign or otherwise sanctioned that needs to be weighed with the overall job he's done. I'm not in Austin but so far from what I've heard he's done a decent job and policy wise has taken this crisis seriously.

I agree that he should be called out. Did he put the nation at risk though, like the GOP no mask, no social distancing Trump stance party? Did he lead millions of people to gather in groups of hundreds without masks? Did he persuade Governors of his party to suppress absentee voting or open up without meeting guidelines? Did he scoff at the medical experts and tell thousands at rallies or on National TV that we are doing a great job, best in the world, and basically nobody is dying from Covid?

If some dude kills himself injecting heroin it doesn't affect me. But, if that man starts dealing to my kids it's different. If the President of the United States tells everyone on National TV most people don't die from it, or starts selling his BS to the people, while wearing no mask as a sign of solidarity with his party, then it's different. When you put millions at risk it becomes a far more dangerous issue. Choosing not to wear a mask or social distance isn't an individual right if those actions put others at risk. You want to risk your own life doing drugs or driving without a seatbelt that's your choice. But, if you harm others from your negligent behavior it no longer becomes an individual risk.

I do not agree with what this mayor did. Not for a minute. But, what he did pales in comparison to the biggest problem we face right now with the President and GOP leaders.

Yes you see individuals while others see groups
That makes you an intellectual not a lemming
They like to group associate individual decisions

if I went to Cabo on lockdown that’s my decision not the decision of my company or political affiliation.

Do people blame new edition if Bobby brown went solo?

No it’s called the Rust Belt.... gave all those corporations subsidies and they still pack up and leave.

I paid my government subsidies, so I get clutch fans through my subsidized broadband.
