I can sure make statements like westbrick sucks because that's not unknown. I can sure make statements about what wall is better at than westbrick because that't not unknown. all you westbrick stans are just butthurt at being massively wrong from day 1 and can't take it. That's how utterly dumb its gotten.
Wall...out of all the stars we've paired with Harden...in his prime, is the least of them all. Dwight was a multi DPOY, First Teamer and defensive first teamer, led a team to the finals, first ballot likely HOF. CP3, same deal except he didn't have the post-season success of Dwight in his prime. Westbrook, multi first teamer, all-star, all that, MVP. Wall... NBA third teamer... People really excited about this? It might be a better fit but you're filling a role, not acquiring a star player, end that noise now, especially with this injury. People I think are fooling themselves if they think this team gets any further with this roster. Only way it happens is if Wood, Cousins, Wall, all play all-star level. Like are people seeing the other teams in the West or...you guys really think Harden, with no other Star, gets past the Nuggets, Blazers? I'm not sure they get past Dallas. Forget about beating the Lakers. What are we actually doing here? We traded a bad contract for a worse contract. Wall in his prime is not even worth this contract. I'm not sure how anyone thinks Wall actually is a better player than Russ. He isn't. There is no argument to be made that he's had the better career than Russ and for good reason. Ask yourself a question. Are we winning a championship with this team? Any knowledgeable NBA fan knows the answer is no...so we flipped a bad contract to a worse one. That's what happened here. If It turns out that Wall plays like most players returning from this injury his contract can't be moved. This does not bring us ANY closer to a championship, that's all that matters. The only hope we had was building Russ value and flipping him to a desperate team in the middle of the season. We sold low on CP3, sold low on Russ.
that was a fun team to watch . . . and at least TWO of those guys have rings adding that for a friend
Dwight, CP3 and Westbrook all have huge egos. John Wall does not seem to be saddled with that baggage, at least not in the terms of an unrealistic expectation of his own legacy. James has the biggest ego of any of these guys, so you have to appease that and fill in around him with guys who will defer and know their role. You cant have 2 captains steering a ship.
So basically Wall wanted out of Washington as much as Russ wanted out of H-Town. No other teams were willing to take on either of their massive salaries without significant assets attached. Therefore trading Wall for Russ was the only solution for the Wizards and Rockets to solve their problems without giving up significant assets.
My fear is that, Stone/Tilman etc wanted to get a FRP no matter what to save face in any WB deal. This eliminated the possibility of trading him to CHA, NYK or ORL for NOTHING but other contracts like Batum, Randle etc... which in my view would've been far better than taking on Wall's contract. Perhaps those teams weren't willing to take on Westbrook for nothing, but I'm guessing the Rockets simply wanted to save face with a pick. One silver lining of this trade is - IF the Rockets trade Harden not long before or after the season starts... the rockets with Wall etc are sure to be one of the worst teams in the league. This trade would pretty much guarantee them a top 4 pick in the upcoming draft...
I guess my greater point is that we knew WB would be a bad fit but we never maximized his fit which couldn't be done in a shortened season, let alone 1 year in a regular season. Yes we moved Clint (we were running less PNR before WB btw) but there was a chance his soft tissue injury would sideline him for the entire season. I was only optimistic about the WB trade because I had wrongly assumed Harden would collaborate with WB. I feel like the Rockets were never setup for success last year and WB got most of the blame (which I felt was unfair).
20 and 10 is a max player in the NBA. It's just crazy that the max happens to be 40 million right now.
There are no WB stans here..... just reasonable people who like the Rockets and can reasonably discuss players without making absolute statements. WB doesn't suck he's just overrated, that's just your butt hurt nature since you still can't get over the rivalry.
Put me on ignore then because I'll keep calling out your low IQ post for anyone to see. LMAO AD averaged his lowest PPG with us. AD killed everyone with a big as well. They got easy transition opportunities BECAUSE OUR OFFESE WAS SHOT, because they were trapping Harden with no release valve. And because Westbrook/Rivers shrunk the floor. Gosh your analysis is so tunnel vision and clearly not seeing in anything that actually happend. If we had Cp3 on this team do you think they have any way of guarding us? Because they certainly arent trapping, our defense gets better too. We also probably still have a big like you wanted LOL> You are one of the dumbest people on this board and that is really an accomplishment on this website.
of course their are westbrick stans. that's been evident from day 1. It's the stans that can't admit it. there's nothing to be butt hurt at this point. I for sure am not. I'm ecstatic. I told @topfive last night i popped a bottle of XO to celebrate, westbrick being gone. Rockets fans suffered for a year and now he's gone thank the heavens. The only ones butt hurt are people like yourself still crying over someone who sucked and didn't want to be here. which makes absolutely 0 sense. yall can continue crying for all i care. youll just end up the same in the end. wrong and gives me more threads/posts to bump and laugh at
Troy Daniels might get offered a ring, but he was traded to Denver before the playoffs. Adding that for a friend that added a dagger to the back of one of his posts. Jerry Lin just doesn't count. Adding that for any LOFs.
And guess what...... Harden will still need to play more off ball.... that hasnt changed from last year to this year.
Because the same problem will still be here with Wall....... another ball dominant guard who is a better creator than scorer...... Why are you happy watching Harden camp out at half court?
Wall at this point is a part time role player until he proves otherwise. This trade was not aimed to make the team better for the present but to get rid of an unhappy player and the drama that would hinder the inevitable rebuild process. We got a FRP out of it. That's about it. Now let's get the best trade we can for Harden...this will be critical for the next decade of the Houston Rockets.
