his play in the bubble was atrocious beyond belief they could’ve kept him and then pawned him off to a desperate team that’s underperforming when he’s putting up stats
But the rupture happened a few months later.... https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...chilles-slipping-falling-his-home/2778752002/ Looks like the actual rupture occurred on Jan 29th while he was at home. Just seems so odd that a guy who had one injury manages to get another while recovering.
Then don't tell me this isn't a money saving move. If you don't understand the basics of business get out of that particular conversation. Well it could make 100 million + dollar difference to Tillman and that's what I'm talking about. I really think they traded for this guy because they WON'T have to pay his salary. Please name a single instance in which a guy has missed this much time and suffered such serious injuries and then returned to play at his former level? And p.s. his former level wasn't actually that great. It certainly wasn't better than CP3 or Westbrook. Ever. And we couldn't get it done with those guys either.
I can say so especially when you made the point of 30 games and now you’re not even willing to bet on it You’re forgetting westbrick was on a payment plan and he already saved money. So nah this isn’t a money saving. Like I said it makes no difference who doesn’t want to be here? Westbrick. Who does want to be here? Wall. Does harden want wall here? Yup. Pretty simple
It doesn't matter how many games he plays. I suspect it'll be somewhere in the 30-40 range. He's averaged less than that over the previous 3 years. But even if I'm wrong will it matter if he's a washed up broken down version of his former self? Please tell me who in the history of NBA has missed this much time to injury and returned and played at their previous level? I can't think of anyone. Not one guy. As close as I can get is Grant Hill and he went from people calling him the next Mike to a veteran glue guy upon his return. And you really don't seem to understand how insurance works. If it's an insurance company paying John Wall's salary then Tillman saves A LOT of money. And there is no way in hell they aren't looking at this situation and saying "The worst case is he's injured and we save a lot of money". I don't know how to make you understand that. Personally, I suspect that's Tillman's actual best case scenario.
so it goes now from he won't play more than 30 games to it doesn't matter how many games he plays. So which is it? If you're going to throw claims like this lets bet it. plain and simple. you're placing wall in this box that says things are going to be this way. lets see what happens and bet it then
That face says it all. As much as I critizine WB, from a competitive standpoint, he puts in a higher tier than Wall in my opinion. Wall could be done and probably at best you might get something like 25 min producing 12-15 ppg / 5 assists but he won't do the damage a wb does. On the other hand, you probably don't have to worry about teams leaving him wide open but the playoffs are a far way away.
I disagree. from a fit standpoint he puts the team in a higher tier. I couldn't careless what westbrick can do individually with his empty stats, especially when he doesnt even want to be here and the weaknesses he brings. The ceiling was never high with westbrick. It all comes down to wall's health at the end of the day.
You're hung up on the 30 game thing. I am not. I am hung up on the fact this is a money saving move and you, for whatever reason, won't even acknowledge that and somehow act is if an insurance company paying his salary won't save Tillman money. I don't believe it is likely he'll play more than 30-40 games. And I don't believe he'll play all that well when he does play. I would make the bet if I was truly dead set on 30 games. I'm not. I just think it's improbable he plays too many more games than his average over the last three seasons. Improbable is not impossible.
You made the claim not me. now you're backing out of it. ok. then don't post claims you're not ready to back up. You're hung up on stuff that doesn't even matter. who cares about backchannel insurance. Are you being impacted personally. nope how come you haven't been b****ing about the installment payment plan about westbrick then. If you're not going to back up what you're trying to say then no need to reply. and don't make claims if you're gonna take offense to actually backing it up.
If Wall can stay healthy, it's definitely a good move, especially with the pick we acquired. Otherwise, it's at worst a lateral move. As these playoffs showed, Westbroke in his current form was so bad that we were better off with him just not playing at all, and that's essentially what we get now. ... But it certainly doesn't undo the damage we did by trading for Worstbrook in the firstplace. And if Wall gets hurt again, odds are good Harden will renew his trade demands (assuming he is pacified at the moment).
Also, "wait and see" or "undecided" is an entirely lame option that defeats the point of a thread/poll like this. You should have forced everyone to decide one way or another how they feel right now. Obviously none of us can really know before we "see what happens", but almost all of us at least have an inkling of how this trade makes us feel, and whether we think the team improved.
I'm not sure how you can be so confident that Wall will be even a starter. Even if he is healthy he simply might not be the same player - history says that he won't be.
I have confidence because people in the league have been around wall and vouched for him. he wants to be here. Even Harden/PJ have been with wall. People are stuck with throwing wall in a box and this or that is going to happen. People objectively acknowledge health is a question but by a number accounts hes put a ton of work in and is plenty motivated to prove he can still play. He didn't rush back and is well over the typical timetable of a recovery. westbrick was a disaster from day 1, yet cf's believed it was the greatest thing. Wall deserves some at minimum a shot before being ridiculed and broken down
Personally, I would have preferred a NY Knick package of young players and picks over Wall. Healthy quantity over questionable health quality. The league must have protocols in places to have final approval of trades involving injured players. If Wall is healthy enough to play at above average level, then I'm glad RW is gone. Looking for Wall to have his games/minutes monitored for optimal use. But would expect him to eventually produce 15 & 5. Is that fair market value for RW, no but the purpose of the trade was to get Westbrook out of town. Again, a inferior package of healthy players from the Knicks would have been my choice.
So Kevin Durant for sure will come back from an Achilles injury, but John Wall will not? Is that the logic or is it safe to say Durant will suck and never be the same too?
