This isn’t about Paul or Westbrook. The team with Harden was gonna lose this trade

The clippers won the trade. I'm talking about what we gave for cp3. I rather have what we had instead of cp3 or a Westbrook.

OKC and it ain’t close. They were predicted to finish 12th with a record of 33-49 by ESPN before the season began and the majority here didn’t dispute that projection one bit.

Not on CP3’s watch. OKC got a Point God, a **** ton of assets for the future and they’re Actually playing better than when they had WB/PG and Jerami Grant.

Can’t believe so many on here claimed CP3 was washed up and predicted he’d be bought out. Smh

We traded for WB which was a mistake From day 1 and tried to completely re-invent the wheel in order to maximize his game (he’s looked great the last couple months) but everything else got ****ed up during that process. Thank Harden and Tilman for that BS.

    1st step: CP3 + 2 FRP + 2 FRP swaps = Russ
    2nd step: CP3 = Kelly Oubre + Ricky Rubio + 1 FRP
    3rd step: Russ = Wall + 1 FRP

If we do the maths and solve the equation:

    Kelly Oubre + Ricky Rubio + 2 FRP + 2 FRP swaps = Wall.

Now, we only have to call Minessota and GSW to make the reverse trade... :D

I can't believe that Presti turned Westbrook into 3 first round picks, 2 pick swaps, Kelly Oubre Jr and Ricky Rubio and all we got was a broken down John Wall on the worst contract in the league and a heavily protected 1st. FML. 2020 really is the worst.

They got a 1st for Oubre, Moved up 11 spots and a 2nd with Rubio, and got James Johnson as well, who they later traded for 2nds and Ariza

    Westbrook for

A stellar year of CP3, 4 firsts, 2 swaps, moving up 28th to 17th in the draft, three 2nds, Ariza, and 30 mill in cap space for Westbrook

We got Wall and a lotto protected 1st.

    win win deal tbh

Presti does a big deal with Morey --> Rockets acquire generational player that revolutionizes NBA, Presti gets perennial Rockets favorite Lt. Savings and Stephen Adams.

Presti does a big deal with Fertittas --> lol

In fairness, even though the Westbrook deal was awful when it was made, it wasn't really foreseeable at the time that the stars would align to give CP3's contract some value again.

He looked broken-down at the end of 2019 with 3 long years on his deal, but low expectations and a nice 6 month COVID19 break in midseason before the playoffs in 2020 - you basically can't imagine better situation for him to look better and increase his value. If he tried to grind his way through a full 82 game schedule again plus playoffs, seems unlikely he stays healthy the whole time.

Still it remans, at the beginning of the 2019-20 season, there were only 2 players you could theoretically trade Paul's anchor of a deal for, and the Rockets managed to....acquire both before the beginning of the 20-21 season. And it only cost them a billion draft picks.

This reckless doubling down, isn't this how you lose money in things like, I don't know...casinos?

I think cp3 is done being a max player. I think we would have seen that starting to happen last year but being able to not play a whole season and get a nice breather before playoffs helped an older player like cp3. He was sig better in the playoffs with okc after getting a break then he was with us after playing a whole season. I will gladly eat crow if cp3 plays well throughout a full season

That being said wall is riskier than an older cp3

I will never forget this trade. I'll tell my grandchildren that I was alive for the Westbrook/Paul trade.
