Not necessarily. We need Harden to be the superstar he is, and we need some high level role players to pull their weight. Wall can work as a pass first point guard who can hit some catch and shoot 3's and be better than Westbrook ever dreamed of being for the Rockets. We need Wood to be an above the rim lob target who can still shoot. Getting a "star" in the aggregate is better than having a stat padding chucker like Westbrook.
I don't mind losing Westbrook at all. It's becoming more and more obvious that all he wants is a chance to get numbers since he knows he can't win. He's basically a bigger AI. I think Silas planning on implementing more ball movement scared him (and Harden, too). Good luck to him and good luck to Wall, too, hope he is recovered and stays healthy.
You cant list Covington and Capela at the same time, nor can you list WB and CP at the same time. They were traded for each other. And lol @ melo, green and rivers. We picked them off the street because nobody wanted them
Wb supporters don't mention his iq. He was hurting the team more then helping... if you get blocked every play and those blocks turn into easy fast breaks for the other team... stop! another thing... stop asking why did we trade him... he gave the rockets no choice... he wasn't even in town... last I saw him post a random video of him shooting around in a gym that wasn't with the team.
When Harden sits: Wall Gordon Nwaba Tucker Cousins That could work. Depth behind Tucker still scares me.
Just to be clear, there is every bit as good a chance Wall gets hurt or is terrible as there is that he does great... but to me that is a win. Westbrook can now leak that he was going to show up, but he wasn’t and already missed the beginning of camp... at least now they have a chance to potentially win... and if they don’t... we’ll they were always most likely going to blow it up anyway.
Hitting catch and shoot 3s has never been a part of Walls game, he's averaged 5.3 3PA at most. Harden is still the better shooter who'd you'd prefer doing some catch and shoot.
I would have rather traded Westbrook at the Deadline. We make this trade at the deadline I don't think it looks as bad Rocket River
Ok i can see you have learned nothing in the harden era. Harden plus role players isnt going to come close to a title. Do you see what the defending champs have ? You honestly believe two starters coming off major injury and james harden is a contender ? Take the homer goggles off. But yall also need to realize james STILL wants out.
For trading Harden, the Rockets will receive two 7th round picks they must convey to the Houston Texans.
The last season he played, Wall hit 37.3% of his catch and shoot 3's, 43.8% the season before that. With Westbrook, he hit under 30% of them last year. It doesn't have to be a big part of his game, it's that he's not embarrassingly terrible at it like Westbrook is.
Screw the optics of trading him at deadline. You're wasting half a season that could be used to figure out if this will actually work. At least by trade deadline, we can maybe explore options at trading Harden (if it doesn't work), than trying to trade two stars and blowing a season. For all we know, this works.
Chris Paul when he was here was effectively a really good role player and the ONLY reason that wasn't 2 championships was due to the Warriors being amazing.....well there isn't a Warriors caliber team anymore. Wall will get us closer to what we did when we had CP3 and Wood is an upgrade over Capela offensively. I'm not counting on ANYTHING from Boogie, but if he bounces back to be a bench quality player, even better.
