Star players that didn't want to stay or were chased off

    Westbrook: Durant, George, Harden
    Harden: Dwight, Paul, Westbrook

The fake narrative writers are going to have a blast

definitely agreed. I was randomly watching his playoff highlights earlier today too, he's definitely a superior half court player than russ, especially in crunch time. Only concern is his health.

Put yourself in Harden's green velvet sports coat, Why would this move make you want to stay here?

Wall is inferior in terms of:
Alpha dominance in a shoot first kind of way
    Brash aggressiveness and self belief
Rebounding - and it isn't close!

Apart from that, Wall is a better player
    Faster (yes, really)
    More in control
    Defence!
Superior vision (ie more of a PG and not a score first and use the pass as bailout mentality)

So, I like the trade in that it is an upgrade (if marginal)

    But

I STILL don't think a 40 mill backup PG is a good idea. It was a bad idea when it was Paul. It was a bad idea when it was Russ. It is a bad idea as Wall.

What we really need as Harden's sidekick is a 6'8 guy with an all around game who can get his own shot or create for others when required.
I know. They are rare as hens teeth.

    Is Harden even staying?

I like it as long as we are trading james too and really doing a rebuild

If this supposed to be the plan to win a title.....two guys coming off major injuries, then its an awful one.

One might fairly assume Harden knew Russ was going for a while, hence his get me to BTown thing. Then the supposed "I want a better roster" - relenting (ie, he won't stay to be Tillys cash cow with no chance at competing). Which seems to have lead to the Wood and Cousins moves. The Cousins move was long rumoured to be a Wall friend thing. The Wall rumours circulated at the time as well.

All told, Wall is not the move that would keep Harden- more like Wood and Cousins are the signings to show there is effort being made, and Wall is icing in that Westbrook isn't being salary dumped.

    Will it work?

No, and not because i dont like John Wall, but because we sold WB so low. After hes got covid and the knee injury, his play in the bubble was awful, and we traded him just after that, so we couldnt get any kind of value. I would have played him out a bit this season to try to bring his value up a bit and then trade.
Now, we gave 2 picks and 2 swaps for him and all we get back is John wall and a protected pick. Dont you think we would be soooo much better if we never do any of these moves>?
We have another pg that cant shoot to pair with Harden, and we are not sure how healthy he is going to be, or how good he is going to look.
I think washington won the deal, same as okc won it before.
    Terrible management guys.

I don't like the trade, but we'll know soon enough why it happened. If Westbrook refused to report then we had no choice and hopefully it's a lemons into lemonade situation. This isn't like the CP3 Westbrook trade where we shot ourselves in the foot for no reason.

We should know from Steve Francis and such that poor bball IQ, super explosive dunker types
that are undersized and not pure shooters are dangerous in the NBA after 30.

They fall off quickly and Wall is right in that Francis, Westbrook mold.

He's overly aggressive, brash, not a pure shooter, undersized and coming off
two horrible injuries and not only hasn't played in two years but barely played
    the year before.

BUT. We're basically backed into a corner and need to gamble. Westbrook is just
a terrible player and a horrible fit and seems to be the most athletic and worst
bball IQ and shooter in the game.

Wall isn't nearly as bad of a decisionmaker or shooter as Russ and was a great on the
ball defender. So by that he gives us a punchers chance with Harden, Gordon, Wood,
Tucker and Co. Cousins is 15 minutes off the bench so doesnt change all that much.
