You don't think there is a chance that colleges will require it like meningitis?

Some types of jobs will absolutely require it.

All colleges don't require vaccines and some jobs require a lot of other things besides being vaccinated.

So no I don't think this vaccine will be any different.

Am I mistaken? I thought the vast majority of colleges require the typical vaccines.

Of course certain jobs require other things so that wasn't really the point.

Unfortunately this damn vaccine is eventually going to be forced down our throat one way or another.

    This damn vaccine?

    Wut?

When has any vaccine been forced down anyones throat, it's a matter of choice always.

Just like colleges and jobs have the choice to let you in or hire you.

"California students are within their legal rights to come to campus without having been vaccinated"

https://www.dshs.texas.gov/immunize...tudents at an,days before the semester begins.

Texas does require meningitis vaccines. I realize not all vaccines are required, but COVID-19 would seem like one most colleges could eventually require. I could be wrong, and I hope I am.

If it did come to that, then saying that is a choice is kind of like saying it's a choice to get car insurance because you don't have to drive a car. I mean sure, "technically" you don't have to drive. You could also chose to drive and risk legal repercussions of not having insurance. But there aren't very many people who can realistically make that choice.

It's still a choice no matter how you slice it, it's nothing technical about it.

Nobody makes you live on the grid and partake in society, that's a choice as well.

You can't pick and choose what you want to do and still benefit from public, that's just how life works.

what about the rights of the people who don't want you putting them at risk?

There are plenty of people who don't have drivers license or go to college so it's very realistic to make that choice.

    You make some valid points.

Sure you can find examples of people who don't want to go to college or want to drive a car. It's not a large percentage.

Regardless, going back to the original point, if this is how you feel, then why the aversion to what your coworker is saying? It just seems this discussion is going in circles now.

My point was that it is not inconceivable that the COVID-19 vaccine will be required for colleges at some point. We know it already is for certain jobs. So while people won't necessarily be "forced", they may be put in a situation where they have to chose to take the vaccine or give up their dream of going to college to pursue xyz career. You're right, that's a "choice." Neither choice is ideal though.

"what about the rights of the people who don't want you putting them at risk?"

This is where it seems like you are arguing both sides. So first it's "nah it's a choice to take a vaccine" and you use an article about California regarding measles outbreaks due to their laws there. Then it's, what about the people being put at risk? I don't get it.

The aversion is that he is telling this to kids with no proof, he is just making **** up because he believes the man is always out to get you, he should never import his values onto a student.

It's not a large percentage of people who are affected by not getting vaccinated as well, so I really don't understand your point.

Those things are not arguing both sides they are arguing the same thing, it's a choice to take a vaccine and it's a choice for people who have take those things to not want to endanger themselves by interacting with people who did not make the same choice.

I don't understand what you are missing.

It's simple why should the minority get to impose their values on the majority?

I agree. That's why I liked your original post.
You say it's a choice to go to college or drive, etc. While that's true, the vast majority of people choose to do one or both. If colleges ever mandated the COVID-19 vaccine, it would create a dilemma for a lot of people.
Honestly we should move this to the COVID-19 thread at the very least, but my original post that you took and ran with was saying "it's unfortunate that they're going to find a way to force this down our throat eventually."

So let me rephrase: No I don't necessarily think they will be knocking down our doors and strapping us down to vaccinate everyone, but it would be very difficult to live even a reasonably normal life if you haven't gotten the vaccine. Could I be wrong? Yes, absolutely. Consider me extremely pessimistic in this regard. I hope I am wrong.

Secondly, I am by no means anti-vaccine. Vaccines have had some issues throughout history, but they are remarkably effective and have saved countless lives. I have a problem with this vaccine because typically vaccines take years to research, test, and develop, especially in regards to determining efficacy and potential adverse effects. With this being streamlined, there will almost certainly be issues arise that weren't known of prior to mass administration. This happens with all vaccinations, but would likely be a much greater number of people given the time to develop and lack of research over larger time frames.

I understand vaccines are not free from issues, I just hate the hyperbole, especially from a teacher.

I really understand having doubts about this one and I am not sure when I will get it, I don't usually get flu shots.

Sorry if I came on strong, this guy really perturbed me and you might have caught the stray.

Are V Bucks for Playstation or is that a Mindcraft thing?

I'm always challenged trying to put money into my wallet for my son to use. I play Madden once a year just to put an a$$ whooping on him and remind him who is the king and I ALWAYS go with the Texans.

I had my CCard charged for about $130 on VBucks a year or two ago. My son swears it wasn't him. I called my CCard company and the guy said there were some similar issues and he'd be happy to contest it for me but I told him I'm pretty sure he did it. I got a replacement card and it never happened again. Hmmm...

You might be able to find them on Amazon. I buy Playstation gift cards there. But I'm sure someone who knows Fortnite would be able to help. If they'll take a gift card as a credit card, you might be able to buy a Visa gift card for him to use on VBucks. Just a thought.

    No worries man.

I'm just weirded out. This one just feels extremely sketchy for a number of reasons. And I'm not naturally inclined to trust the government or pharmaceutical companies.

Why does this commercial make me uncomfortable?

It seems to be mocking gay people but it's kind of funny, I'm surprised there is not more "outrage".
