It fits with something Trump would do.... They rocketed a base and killed an American contractor. We responded with air strikes againt pro Iranian forces in Iraq. They responded with the embassy siege in Baghdad. We responded by taking out Soleimani. They launched missiles against our base.

Now they shot rockets into the green zone. Is it possible Trump responded with asking Israel to do this? Maybe. I don't know and anyone saying they know for a fact in here is full of it.

We also don't know for sure who was responsible for those initial rocket attacks:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_K-1_Air_Base_attack

The US was unwilling to share their intelligence implicating Iran-backed militia groups for the attack with Iraqi officials.

Trump has no issues with sharing sources.

I didn't say they should reveal it (though if you are an occupying foreign power and you're attacking local forces, I think you owe it to the people of that country to provide some evidence to back up your attacks). I'm saying we don't know if they're telling the truth about the culprits, or if they are blaming this particular group in order to wage some sort of proxy battle against Iran on Iraqi soil or as part of some strategy of applying "maximum pressure" against Iran.

For those brave Warriors who served in Iraq and dealt with the constant IED threat (from 2004/2009)planted by Iranian Revolutionary Guards know what a malignant cancerous and horrific this organisation truly is.

I never shed a tear when I hear or see one of these folks meet their makers. The blood of so many US, British and Australian soldiers are on their hands.

Very true. I don't think people understand how the Iranian EFPs changed the battlefield for our soldiers.

Question. Would we be there playing ieds if we didn't invade another sovereign nation in the first place?

I didn't serve in Iraq but in Afghanistan but do us Americans have any place to lambast Iran for this when we literally destabilized the region ourselves?

Wtf type of sympathy points are these? We ****ed up Iraq, not Iran.

Your point is so out of touch.

Also invading Iraq changed the lives of thousands of our enlisted more so than Iran's decisions.

This point lacks a lot of self-awareness as American citizens.

This is how lacking in self-awareness the brain dead jingoist side of America is that they think invading Iraq and destabilizing the region was a "oppsie" rather than a abject evil act while painting Iranian proxy influence as evil. That is the epitome of lacking self-awareness.

What you're describing is a cycle of violence. You're justifying prolonging that cycle.

The fact that Iran has armed and trained Iraqi militias that have killed US soldiers shows that Iran can strike back at us. Again you don't have to like or defend Iran to think this is a bad idea. These type of actions rather than leading to more stability in the region where we can safely get out just pulls us deeper into it.

Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and thousands of Americans lost their lives as a result . All we got in the end was a vacuum and destabilized region.

Under Saddam's strongman leadership? No, Iraq had their sovereignty before we invaded. This isn't the 1980s.

Along with numerous other local and foreign actors. Destruction of Iran will not magically make the region better off, and in fact would probably lead to other crises.

The US should pursue diplomatic paths to easing tensions in the region and curtailing the arms race. Selling more and more military tech to Iran’s foes in the region is not a smart way to compel Iran to stop developing its missile systems.

Iran’s nuke program is run by the guards. That country is pretty much run by the IRGC.The supreme leader ( dictator messiah wanna be) owes his power to them.

And those folks are the same people who killed over 200 odd marines in Lebanon through their proxy hezbollah in the 1980s.
