Listening to Dr. Michael Osterholm and he is saying that the government and health officials need to do a lot more to explain the vaccines. The reasons we need them and the risks. He is very worried that there is a high level of distrust of the vaccines.

I have the feeling that this vaccination roll out is going to be a big cluster. I hope I’m wrong, but from what I’ve heard, everything seems rather scattershot. The CDC recommendations are only recommendations. It looks like state and local officials can do things differently if they want to. And the CDC recommendations seem somewhat confusing. What exactly is a “front line” or “essential worker?” It depends who you ask. What exactly is an “underlying condition?” It probably depends who you ask. How do we confirm someone is an essential worker, or has an underlying condition? Having to get two doses is going to complicate things greatly. I really like the plan the UK has proposed. They are having the military operate mass vaccination sites. They will be giving out shots mainly by age groups. 80 and above, then 70 and above and so forth. It seems simple and is easy for everyone to understand. I’m concerned about all this because I have parents that are both over 90 years old and I really want them to be vaccinated as soon as possible. At this point I don’t know if they will be getting shots from their doctor, a pharmacy, or somewhere else. I feel that we have done very poorly in testing, so I’m concerned that the vaccine roll out will be even worse. End rant.
