It’s really Netanyahu (aka “Bibi”) and trump being a “match made in Hell.” The way the Israeli parliament has been the last several years, very small extremist parties have had undue influence over Israeli actions in the region. They are using Netanyahu for their own ends, like expanding Israeli settlements in the West Bank, certain to promote Palestinian unrest and violence (which Bibi uses to keep the Israeli populace fearful, which is to his advantage at election time), and Bibi has most definitely been using them to keep himself in power, despite being embroiled in one scandal after another.

trump’s arrival has given Netanyahu free rein to largely do as he wishes re Israeli foreign policy in the region, and a great deal of what he has been doing is not in the best interests of the United States, in my opinion. I keep waiting for a strong leader to come from the Israeli opposition that could toss Bibi out on his ear, but one has yet to appear. Sort of what we’ve had to deal with in the Democratic Party.

Israel is God's chosen people and it is their land and they have a right to defend themselves Ultimately it is sovereign God's work and will at work here and Israel is the chosen instrument and vessel in the Middle East region. Again I'm just pointing out contextually in Bible terms, if you're interested in seeing it through that lens.
