I hear ya and I would like them to stay as well but you act like just offering market value would accomplish that? You seem to think it's all Astros to get it done, its not that simple, so if the Astros offer what you think is fair market value and they turn it down then what?
Why will we not be competitive for years to come? All you have tyo do to be competitive is get into the playoffs and I see us doing that for many years.

It’s usually a relatively insignificant amount of money. Losing 5 players off their 40 man (Sanabria, Bailey, Armenteros, Sneed, and Mayfield) without getting anything in return is a blow. It’s fine when a crummy team cleans up the bottom of its 40 man and a bunch of guys go unclaimed, but when 4 guys get picked up by other teams, just seems like a waste of resources.
I think at this point DJL is a great option to have on this team. I would almost entertain the Idea of him at 1B and move Gurriel. Either to DH or LF or 3B. Or even a Trade. I think he would be a greater option to have on the team and at the front of the lineup maybe even leadoff
