There isnt anything wrong with having an Iso Heavy offense. Harden can have(and should) have as many as he wants. That distorts the defense. Adding in action and moment is great, but its really more about the other guys than it is Harden. Also he just came from Dalllas where Carlise said that posting up was inefficient. So guys like Boogie, really dont have(or shoulndt) have that big of a presence in offense. He needs to be good on the short toll and a shooter.
Lol, you'd be suprised. We actually had a top 10 defense going into the playoffs, I was pretty shocked tbh.
I know but we essentially gave that up replacing Roco who IMO was our best defender. Especially at help defense for Wood. Even Without Boogie we don’t really have any shot at that same defense. They traded the he most important piece.
There is something wrong with iso heavy offense when it matters. It doesn’t and hasn’t worked in the playoffs. There has to be other options, a multiple look offense with iso, pick and roll, motion, post ups, screens is something that should be the goal.
I agree wing defense took a hit on paper but we have a better presence in the paint. There are still some 3 and guys that will help. This year is it, If Silas can execute a winning brand of basketball with this team Harden might sign a max extension next summer. If not he will be traded by the draft.
For now, just vet minimums. But if a major salary-reducing trade happens (Gordon? Blowing it all up with Russ and/or Harden?), then the Rockets would have most of their NT-MLE and (if they want) the BAE to spend on free agents.
That's not true though. Our offense was fine in the playoffs WITHOUT Westbrook and Rivers killing our spacing. Harden just needed an actual number 2 who could punish double teams. The reason our offense is so good is because dude's on the team arent doing more than they should. We dont need motion, or postups. Like Silias said, we just need actions to keep the offense moving, we dont large, signifiant changes. You dont have to be good at 20 different things to win.
People still severely underestimate just how bad Westbrook is next to Harden just do the fact he can’t make an open shot.
Where did people get the impression that Dallas didn't have the ball in Luka's hands as in A LOT? Like the lazy assumption is that Dallas ran constant motion. They absolutely did not Fun fact. ******Luka's usage rate was higher than Harden's this past season******
Words cant describe how bad he was. I dont expect large, grandiose changes though, more actions(pick and rolls, dribble hand offs) will be nice.
How often do you think we run isolations? We have TOPPED out over a regular season or playoffs at around 20% of our offensive plays as isolation. Cleveland led the playoffs in isolation possessions for two straight seasons where they made the finals both years and won one of them. Houston was the best regular season team and one of the 3 best playoff teams in 17/18 leading the league isolations . There is nothing wrong with it. It can and has worked. And we have always had other options because again at our PEAK we were using it 20% of the time.
You don’t have to be good at 20 things. But you can’t be a single minded offense that is predictable either.
