Disagree. Moves Tuck to the 4. Gives Harden a lob threat again and we have a stretch big finally

Not without shedding some salary in the process.

We cannot exceed the hard cap ($138,928,000) for any reason.

If you believe the Spotrac numbers, it appears that we have 9 players under contract. That means that we have to count 3 incomplete roster charges. The total of all of that is $132,543,615 .

    https://www.spotrac.com/nba/houston-rockets/cap/

That also assumes that we renounce all of our current free agents. There's really no ramification for doing that other than losing the Early Bird rights on Rivers and Bruno.

Clemons $1.5M isn't guaranteed but waiving him only frees up around $600K since that would create another incomplete roster charge.

Also, we do have a $122K charge for dead money owed to Troy Williams. [ Insert Joke about Matt Maloney still being owed money here].

That's not much space to work with. I'd have to think that other moves to free up space are coming.

Imagine if Morey was successful stealing Wood from DET last season, Rockets would have romped in the bubble IMO.

    The possibilities.

I’ve said before Silas will use him in a way similar to KP.

This kid is giving me Chris Bosh vibes in a good way.

    25 yrs old
    A long 6’10
    Can face up
    Can post up
    Can shoot 3s

    LFG!!!

Sign Boogie and he stays healthy.

Trade Westbrook for A. Gordon and sign a cheap young FA PG like Wannamker and this team is suddenly much more dangerous.

    Wannamaker
    Harden
    House
    A. Gordon
    Wood

    Boogie
    PJ
    E. Gordon
    McLemore
    Mason Jones
    KJ Martin

Not a team at all and has pieces to trade at the deadline to add another PG at the trade deadline.

I disagree. There is always room for someone who can produce, especially at that price. Similar to the draft, you take talent over position or fit and let the rest figure itself out.

They likely keep him because he is a good player at a position of need at a small salary.... but don’t fool yourself into thinking that was his first or fifth screw up. He is a walking screw up and has been for years.

Barbra was right again. He pretty much got everything right. So I’m sure what he has said about Harden is true as well.

I disagree Wood is better for many reasons:

    1. Age. Wood is only 25, he is like a reset/backup in case the Rockets end up rebuilding (which IMO they should do). Wood is barely older than some rookies in this year's draft we dont know how good he can be. Roco is what he is at this point, an above average role player/starter. That is decent but nothing amazing esp at his 12M per year salary he is basically making market grade money.

    2. Fit. Tucker did the best he could but he is really a PF, can't have a 6'6 center full time, with him Harden lost his deadliest weapon the PnR for dunks and we also invited layup drills and lost rebs vs taller enemies. Wood can rim roll and he can also shoot 3s for Harden and Russ. In cases where both are gettibg doubled or cant shoot for **** he can be the focal pt of the offense, his efficiency didnt go down a lot even when he increased the volume of his shots.lp

    3. Moving the needle. Even with Roco last year the Rox got destroyed by the Lakers and thats before they added Schroeder and Harrell while we already lost Rivers who was a key part of rotation as well as the HC and GM. So if at your "best" you lose 1-4 to the Lakers then whats the point of running it back? With Wood worst case we get swept instead of winning 1 game. Big whoop.

    4. Backup Plan the Harden era is closing despite what Fertitty is claiming. We will likely move either WB, Harden, EG or perhaps all of them to save money on LTS and get assets back. In such cases Wood is a decent piece to build around than 30 yr old RoCo.

Trevor Ariza wants to play for all of the teams in the NBA. That is his Career Goal.

I'm pleasantly surprised that we got him. His age and physical abilities seem to be a fit with either winning games now or rebuilding. He's still young at 25 years old. Hopefully he can build on what he did last year because the sample size was not big.

Imagine Daryl Morey was Smart in Keeping
These Guys since their Rookie Years

    Robert Covington Since RGV
    Christian Wood Since RGV
Clint Capela would've still be here

Those 3 on this Roster is Scary

Guess Stone really learned from the best, trade a player and picks causing fans to freak out only to realise he uses the space to acquire a great player. What a move! Wood really looks like a star in the making, this move means so much more than trying to get Harden to stay. It finally means we're having a legit big man again, a big who can spread the floor allowing for more space in the paint to drive, it sets us up for the future since he's young so would be a guy to sort of build around, it means we won't just accept any bullshit deals out there for Harden, that Westbrook could stay and be successful with 4 shooters around him, Tucker can finally be a forward again and finally no more small ball because your big can't spread the floor when we had Capela or no faith in Green who was not really a big anyway. A Great DEAL and HUGE HUGE HUGE STONES!!!

Amazing deal. Will be better than Capela going forward imo, since he can space the floor. Super steal.
