I don't think so. They've beaten good teams without him before. If they were able to keep most of the team intact and add necessary pieces, they will be alright.
The Covid situation gave those older players enough time to rest up and they still almost lost to OKC and had no real chance against LA when they played at their peak. I have little doubt that these Rockets plus this kind of distraction would fare worse. It is not something a Wood or Turner can magically undo. But please I won't disturb your day dreams.
That frontline would be just fine If Russ and Harden could stay in front, but gawdamn I don't know If they can. They are both middle linebackers, so the defense has to be constructed accordingly. IMO, switching is still the best way to go. Like you mentioned, Covington/Tucker/Wood, would have been ideal.
Horford doesn’t work in a clogged front court. He needs to be the man at center. Wood end Horford would be a worse version of Horford and Embiid
Bogdon’s agent, Milwaukee or Sacramento not being able to keep their mouths shut may have just blown up Milwaukee’s future. That’s why, if there is a wink wink agreement with Detroit and Wood, I’m glad we’ve been able to keep it under wraps.
Wood defensively can play away from the basket. Offensively they would space well I believe. In Philly they didn’t have shooters
People don’t understand how freaking quick Wood is for being a near 7 Footer. He’s the closest thing we could possibly get for Silas to have a Porzingis type to replicate his offense in Dallas.
only weakness I see is his weight. He is at like 220 now so he might get pushed around a bit against bigger 5s down the line.
ANY 5 is going to be weak on switch defense. Even AD can’t guard Harden on the perimeter. That doesn’t mean they can’t stay on the floor if the other team goes 5 out. It does mean we need a PG that will fight over screens though. get Lowry!!!
He seems to be a bit slow footed when it comes to perimeter defense, but his length allows him to recover to contest or make a play
So...a non contending team? Cause at best, that team would be a first round exit? Im just saying we should at least try and keep Harden, and see whats up at the deadline?
Wood is the best FA no doubt, but Noel isn’t bad either and is much more likely to be within our reach. I would be very happy for a RW/ Lowry exchange, but I don’t see it happening.
as incredible as Harden is we’ve been eliminated in the second round two years in a row. If he’s giving up, why should we expect more? I hope it’s conjecture and he’s not as miserable as the media says, and signs a max extension, but if he won’t, I’d trade him now. It turns the team into an absolute circus for a year if he really doesn’t think they are good enough. I was of the other mind and thought back to Hakeem. Hakeem didn’t have Twitter. Times change. Max extension or trade him to Philly.
