I think this will be the biggest story that emerges from the 20/20 election and will insure that Republicans have a future going forward if the Democrats don't get better responding to this stuff. Think about it latino voters where the difference in flipping Texas and Florida, talk about a blue wave. https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/p...0201020-aqhsubbc4fbhvh6ylwzxgdofie-story.html At 10 p.m. one day in October, the raspy, high pitched voice of Cuban radio journalist Maria Laria welcomed a woman she identified as an elections official to her popular late night radio show. “Absentee voting ...” began Beatriz Perez, Laria’s guest. "What you’re doing is throwing your ballot into a tomb. What assurance do you have that your ballot is getting counted? There is so much, so much fraud.” Whether that speaker was an actual elections worker is open to question. A spokeswoman for the Miami-Dade elections department said they have no record of a “Beatriz Perez” among their permanent employees. The spokeswoman dismissed suggestions of fraud in mail voting. The elections office has a system that allows voters to track their ballot and make sure it is counted, the spokeswoman said. Studies have routinely shown that voter fraud in mail balloting is exceedingly rare. The incorrect information about Florida’s elections might have been part of what experts, politicians and national security officials call a major spike in election-related conspiracy theories and disinformation targeting South Florida’s Latino community, a key voting demographic in a major battleground state. In some cases, the disinformation has managed to make it off the internet and onto more mainstream Spanish language media outlets, allowing it to reach a greater swath of Florida’s 2.4 million registered Latino voters, who make up about 17% of all registered voters in the state, according to the Pew Research Center. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/pol...-grabs-as-trump-makes-inroads-in-south-texas/ He concedes his decision was difficult, but ultimately he decided “President Trump is the best choice for this country and for my future, my job.” Daniel Sanchez, 43, drove over 200 miles to cast a ballot in El Paso for President Trump, saying he was afraid Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden would end his oil job.(Alfredo Corchado Bob Peña of the Republican Alliance in El Paso put it more bluntly. “As we say here, and in other Mexican American communities, he may be a cabrón, but he’s our cabrón," Peña said — roughly, he’s a jerk, but he’s our jerk. “He may not look or sound presidential, but his economic policies make the difference.” While Biden handily won El Paso County with over 66% of the vote, Trump improved his performance there by roughly 6 percentage points over 2016. The president’s fear-inspiring rhetoric about unauthorized immigrants, as well as his hard-line policies about border security, may have helped crack Hispanic solidarity, said Richard Pineda, a political analyst at the University of Texas at El Paso. Stoking a fear of new immigrants “actually played strongly to Mexican Americans,” Pineda said. “This wasn’t just some kind of xenophobic impulse … the rhetoric has worked very well for Mexican American voters, especially in Texas,” Pineda said. Trump effectively gave such voters permission to look at new arrivals from Mexico and Central America and conclude, “We don’t like those people, and we don’t want those people here,” he said. “Trump has been able to cultivate a sense of us versus them — with a portion of Mexican Americans, obviously not all.” ___________________________________________________ Was talking to a friend who is Mexican but younger and he was surprised how many mexicans were going for Trump, he was telling me they were in a parade in East Texas for Trump about half the crowd. I talked to a coworker (custodial) and she was talking about the oil thing and now she is saying Truckers are gonna strike next week.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino...atino-voters-shouldn-t-come-surprise-n1246463 SAN ANTONIO — Robert Gonzalez hoped to help Donald Trump get to the White House by waving a large Trump-Pence flag outside a polling site Tuesday. This predominantly Latino city backed Joe Biden, but Trump won the state. "He's not a career politician," Gonzalez said of Trump. He was saddened that businesses in Riverwalk downtown — a heavy tourist area — had been boarded up because of the pandemic. Trump would bring economic recovery, he said.
Latinos don't vote on race. They are diverse. They aren't like blacks. Black people vote Democrat damn near universally because the overwhelming majority share the same history. Slavery to Jim Crow. Latinos don't have a shared history like that
Not necessarily. A lot of left wing Latinos consider the liberal identitarians (for example feminists for the 1% or millionaire poc broadcasters) who push this so eagerly to be guilty of rather silly cultural/ linguistic misappropriation.
Trends and demographics change over time and just as soon as you think something is stable or predictable, it changes.
Mexicans are gang members, rapists. And some, I suppose, are good people. And many Mexican-Americans vote for Trump. I have people in Hawai'i (looking for evidence of Obama's citizenship), and you wouldn't believe what they are finding. And some black males vote for Trump. He does unite us all in killing us with Covid, though. U-N-I-T-Y. (I will say, the Biden campaign did jack-s*** to get the Latino vote. They always take some group or another for granted. "Oh my God, the numbers in Miami Dade are awful.")
My best friend is Mexican and he didn't vote for Trump. He's a well respected person at his job as a plant manager and in his community. He did have some choice words to say about Cubans and Puerto Ricans when I asked him about the FL vote. Paraphrasing, he said any he ever hired didn't work out due to work ethic issues.
This is interesting but what makes the left wing Latinos right about this? What the hell does feminist or poc broadcasters let alone the 1% of them have to do with anything? Is this your daily talking point? Are you really differentiating the 1% or millionaire broadcasters as a thing? That's a stretch even for you. How sanctimonious can you get? LOL. Would love to start reading what you do, can I get a link to your feeds?
Socialism, Communism messaging work. I think there was something like a 20pt swing toward Trump for the Vietnamese (especially older) community. Not a big group, but the effect on this group is powerful. They think DEM are communist.
You might want to actually read up on what happened in Miami Dade and realize that was a concerted effort by many respected members of that community. Why do you say Biden did jack **** to get out the Latino vote?
"Cubans and Puerto Ricans are lazy"? LOL. Maybe so; no firsthand knowledge here. I know if I came from a beautiful sun-drenched island surrounded by beautiful sun-drenched women, I wouldn't have much of a work ethic, either. I know the stereotype of Koreans and West Indies peoples being hard workers is true. Well, Koreans especially! Hey Mon, "In Living Color": "Who dis new boyfriend of yours? How many job he have?" "Him have one." "ONE JOB!? Why, when I was your age I had fifteen job. What he do, dis lazy radish?" "Him brain surgeon!" "What happened to dat nice Korean boy you were dating? Him have hundred job!' "Him DEAD! He drop dead!" Back to the topic: I heard tell that "Latinx" is a term that liberals apply ("just call 900-Y-T-GUILT") and Latinos don't particularly care for it. Someone correct me.
I didn't see or feel a particular outreach to Latinos (not that I would have been contacted as such; I'm so white, Casper took one look at me and said, "Got*amn, get some sun, you're hurting my vision"). Of course, I know in Florida you have but to say, "Biden is a Castro kisser! Biden loves Maduro!" And it's over. What did happen in Miami Dade, then? I remember something about a wad of ballots being found at some post office or another but otherwise I just know the Latino community in Florida is more conservative in general.
I have heard a number of Latinos themselves using that term, so who do you mean by Liberals? I don't know where it came from but where are you hearing this from?
After reading up on the title it does seem to be a woke thing. I can see folks being annoyed with it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latinx
