A lot of players on OP list are vet minimum guys. That being said... I wouldn't be mad if the MLE was broken up among: Trey Burke, Josh Jackson, Harry Giles, John Henson, and /or Noah Vonleh among others.
Goal is to save the most money as possible then release a press statement saying Rockets GM has no cap on what he can spend.
I'm pretty sure we are going to offer it to Ibaka, Baynes, Cousins and Wood and if none of them bite then Saric.... None of them will bite.
So on target man! Russ/Lin James Royce White Melo/DMO Dwight Oh Man! How could we loose? Lebron better watch out
Yes sorry that wasn't clear, it's players ESPN projects as basically $9M and under, with a few that are a little higher where noted. I didn't do ALL the vet min guys, just the ones that seemed the most interesting.
keep in mind we traded roco for the chance at one of these guys. this doesn't help us for the future. it doesn't help us win now. its just so tilman can say "see I spent the full MLE! stop calling me cheap!"
This is lunacy to think that the Rockets are currently making moves around a full MLE target to play alongside Russ/ Harden. No. It isn't happening - they are going. They want to go, it will just take some time to find the right deal. Even if they were staying, you don't try and improve the team by trading away one of the best 3nD guys in the league for future assets, and then using the full MLE to sign someone who isn't as good. To put it another way, if there is a dire need in the roster, creating a different dire need now leaves 2 dire needs, and a desperate hope of the MLE being the solution. Nah. This is about future assets and $$ saving.
I wouldn't spend the full MLE on him. Even then it's not like signing him is going to even be a chance at beating the Lakers. That would take a healthy Cousins or a motivated Christian Wood.
How smart Rockets management is... trade Roco to get MLE to sign a player who will be downgrade to RoCo. Dumbness at it's peak.
I was going to post that after looking at the list. Thought I would read the thread first. I think though this was the plan all along. That is 4 2014 starting all stars. Pau Gasol can still play as well. Now that’s 5 starters from 2014. Would be an epic season.
Most of the players we can use either not worth $9.8mil. or seeking much more. use part of the MLE to sign Jeff Teague and a little bit to re-sign Jeff Green / Caboclo use the $12.8mil. T.E. with 2nd round picks for sign-n-trade Millsap ($12.8mil x 2yr.) send Westbrook+Gordon+Tucker to Indy. for Oladipo+Brogdon+Turner * For Indy: Gordon is a local hero, Tucker is better complementary to Sabonis than Turner, and Westbrook still has the star power to help a small market team like the Pacers to sell tickets. and maybe they can also flip Tucker to Phoenix for a low FRP. if possible i'll reroute Turner to the Raptors for a S&T Ibaka for better 3pt shooting and friendship with Harden. Ibaka, Green Millsap, House Oladipo, Nwaba, Tate Harden, McLemore Brogdon, Teague, Clemons if Harden still wants out i'll package him and House to the Clippers for PG13+Lou Williams+Zubac and maybe some future 2nd round picks (LAC has no tradable 1st round picks 'till 2027 after the Paul George trade) Ibaka, Zubac, Millsap, J.Green, Caboclo PG13, Nwaba, Tate Oladipo, Williams, McLemore Brogdon, Teague, Clemons we'll have 3 FRPs next summer, Pistons' FRP the year they make the Eastern Playoffs (Outside lottery), and some extra 2nd round picks from the Clippers. i'll give Tilman a 2yr probation if he make this happen
