Capela and a 1st for Covington...Covington for Ariza and 2 protected 1sts...Ariza and a 1st for a heavily protected 1st from a perpetually garbage team like Detroit

@tinman this is why people say we’ll end up becoming like the Knicks

Who needs a 24 year old solid player like Luke Kennard? We have a possible #16 to 30 pick in the next four years. We could get anyone with that pick. Maybe even someone like Luke Kennard!

No chance we get a more valuable player than Covington.

What is frustrating to me is we aint even tanking. At least if we are tanking then it is ok if Fertitty wanted to save money cuz we would be building assets for later on. Instead he is saying there is no limit and they are going all the way lmao.

Fertitty doesnt want to take a hit on a rebuild so he is saying they are gonna contend while hamstringing the team and cutting costs wherever possible. We will prob hold on to Harden and WB and lose them for nothing in FA at this rate.

**** you Fertitty! Don't buy the team if you are too broke to afford it you POS!!!

What you just said described is a true cheap ass mans description/definition. The other problem is he is also a broke ass cheap SOB. So he has become a super stingy SOB as a result

Do you really think Tilman spent $4.6M for the Lakers 2021 second round pick? It'll likely be 56-60. We didn't buy a pick. Detroit didn't want to eat all of Ariza's salary so we partially paid some of it by buying a worthless pick. This is salary dump and non-taxpayer MLE flexibility. It doesn't look good that we'll actually sign anyone with that MLE.

Guys its genius. We had to trade Ariza in order to make room for Enes Kanter and #30. That way we can move 15 spots back and add even more salary. 4d chess.

So the Rockets gave up a player better than anyone available for the MLE to go from 5.8 to 9.3... in the hopes to sign a worse player than Covington? Yeah sure

On the plus side, it doesn't look like we aren't trying to rebuild yet. Otherwise they would be actually making first round picks, instead of trading them off. Plus we didn't trade Hardin or WB for any package that includes picks in this draft.

No we aren't rebuilding. And we sure as hell aint competing for a championship. The Goal here on is clear as day. Its to have the team salary as low as possible using the Rockets as a vehicle to make a few dollars until the Casino industry recovers.

Might want to look at the protections on those picks. Covington is better than the average 18th pick in the draft 6 years from now.

Is it possible that Christian Wood is a part of this deal somehow?

    Lets recap
-Rockets had to sacrifice promising 2nd round pick De'Anthony Melton to turn the Ryan Anderson contract into an expiring contract (knight), so it could be dumped easier at a later time. That time came at the trade deadline, when the Rockets had to give up their 2018 1st to get under the tax and move Knight.

-Fast forward last years deadline, and here we are again over the tax. And what do we do, use our pick to dump Green and Nene. Don't be fooled into thinking this was something different. We traded Capela for Covington, and used a pick to dump Green / Nene to duck the tax.

-Fast forward to this years draft, over the tax, we trade Covington + cash, to duck the tax, and a mediocre Portland pick and a pick that won't convey for years + another worthless pick.

Any guesses on what those picks will be used for? I'll give you a hint. They will be used to duck the tax.

This owner is a ****ing JOKE!
