I am okay with a rebuild. I am okay with us tanking. But flushing a first round pick like this is just so infuriating. Why Tilman?????

    Calm down guys.

All we have done so far is trade Robert Covington for 2 1st Round Picks. One in 2021, and one somewhere between 2021-2027... The exact picks we are going to need going forward, in likely stronger drafts than this one.

    Everything is OKAY. (I hope)

Every keeps piling on the Detroit 1st round pick. The whole point is to have it as a tradeable asset. A 1st round draft pick is still a 1st round draft, and the Pistons have been middling for years now.

Plus, how many late lottery picks even become starters in the NBA? Esp in this "down" 2021 draft class? Was there some player around the pick for the 2021 that really intrigued any of us? That could jump in and really make the rotation?

Nearly everyone was like "take a swing at great player" which just as likely end up with a bust that everyone just blamed the Rockets instead of that "obvious" 25-something draft pick that they should have drafted.

I would have prefered keeping RoCo no matter what, but once he was traded. This 2nd step makes some sense to add a player who will help this years' team and have a tradeable asset going forward. They still have to actually accomplish the next few steps though.

These picks are super protected. If this was an unprotected pick, it would have been a genius move, especially with how bad Detroit is likely going to be again.

As it is though, this pick is next to worthless. It was just Tilman getting out of the luxury tax again.

If ya mad be mad at yourself. How many times does TF have to show you what he’s about before you believe what his actions are clearly showing you?

Just lottery protected. 16-20 on both picks probably.

I was initially encouraged with the trade seeing as this is a weak draft and Detroit isn't very good. But the pick is so heavily protected that this is clearly just a salary dump. Anyone who thinks we'll get someone with the MLE doesn't know Tilman's history with the MLE. Our owner wasn't willing to pay for a contender, and now he won't even pay to let us rebuild.

This is not as bad as I thought, lets see if they actually use the MLE.

Not much difference between 16 and 2nd rounders IMO.

There's a decent chance this pick ends up around the #16 pick range that we gave up...
