Assume, i have cancer and the doctor said i probably have 6 months to live. I catch COVID and die in 2 weeks with about 5 months left on the doctor's cancer diagnosis.

What is my cause of death?

That's one of the issues. If folks have pre existing conditions such as heart problems, and they die of COVID, hard liners are saying that COVID wasn't the cause of death. Same with the elderly in nursing homes.

Death certificates tend to show underlying conditions, but for the most part, COVID is what killed them.

We could dramatically reduce automobile fatalities with the same logic.

Sure he died in the crash, but his heart disease didn't do him any favors. He would have survived that wreck if he'd been in better shape.

Still I'm not convinced that this virus is this cold blooded killer waiting around every corner to get you if you dont have a mask on.

No one is saying that. Death rate is relatively low percentage wise, but it is highly contagious and wearing masks significantly cuts down on transmission. And, yes, 2 people can both be wearing masks and still transmit/receive to each other.

As others have said, it's the fact that the virus is highly contagious. And it can spread when the carrier shows no symptoms, which makes it very hard to track.

The disease may not be "a cold blooded killer" for all, but for the elderly and certain groups of people, it can be quick and lethal.

So, even if you don't completely believe in the pandemic, could you PLEASE wear a mask anyway?
There may be a slight chance that it can help you or a stranger who may be very vulnerable to it. So, how could it hurt to do this small thing?

Lastly, I doubt that you will be easily convinced otherwise, but I suggest you look carefully at the source of these skeptical reports. You may be getting flooded with misinformation by so-called experts.

As with most things, the virus falls inbetween the two extremes that people keep screaming the loudest about of what this is. All this debate about what constitute a COVID death is meaningless. A better conversation is looking at the death trends this year vs previous years. I think that's a much more telling indicator of how "deadly" this virus is, especially considering how many of those months had an actual lockdown in place.

You realize the "punchline" is reality in the eyes of many?

    https://thehill.com/homenews/state-...many-dying-patients-still-insist-covid-19-not

South Dakota nurse says many dying patients still insist COVID-19 'not real'
A South Dakota emergency room nurse on Monday expressed frustration that many of her patients don't believe they are dying of COVID-19.
Jodi Doering's tweet went viral on social media over the weekend after
she tweeted about patients who "don’t believe the virus is real ... while gasping for breath on 100% Vapotherm."
"It wasn't one particular patient, it's just a culmination of so many people," Doering told CNN's "New Day." "And their last, dying words are, ‘This can’t be happening. It’s not real.’ "

South Dakota reported 821 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, with 62,521 current confirmed cases statewide. The state health department reports 20 percent of hospital beds are currently occupied with COVID-19 patients.

"People want it to be influenza, they want it to be pneumonia," Doering said. "We've even had people say, 'You know, I think it might be lung cancer.' ... Even after positive results come back, some people just don't believe it."

Doering said multiple patients target nurses like her with their "anger and hatred."

"They call you names and ask why you have to wear all that 'stuff' because they don’t have COVID because it’s not real," she tweeted on Saturday.

"I think it's just a belief that it's not real and nursing happens to be on the receiving end of that," she told CNN.

"It just makes you sad and mad and frustrated and then you know that you're just going to come back and do it all over again," she added.

Doering also noted on Twitter that some patients argue with her that President-elect Joe Biden "is going to ruin the USA."

Biden has indicated that as president he will ask governors and mayors to institute mask mandates, in keeping with CDC recommendations for preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

South Dakota's Republican Gov. Kristi Noem did not issue a statewide lockdown order earlier this year, unlike most other states, and continues to criticize statewide mask mandates.

"It's a good day for freedom. Joe Biden realizes that the president doesn't have the authority to institute a mask mandate," Ian Fury, communications specialist for Noem, told South Dakota's The Argus Leader on Friday. "For that matter, neither does Governor Noem, which is why she has provided her citizens with the full scope of the science and trusted them to make the best decisions for themselves and their loved-ones."

Most of these healthcare workers are decent human beings.

At some point, they'll think like a Republican and tell those dipshits "You're on your own, buddy"

Light at the end of the tunnel? No way...we haven't gotten to the anti-vaxx phase. Casting call for 55+ yr old infants...

Sweden's curve might actually invert and start retroactively infecting people last spring.

Then the herd immunity will be achieved!

...maybe we ought to give another herd strategy a try.

...how about a "thinning the herd" strategy?

...looks like we could all spare the loss of more than a few morons...
