haha. I have. Why would you want to build your team around a guy that can't shoot? That's not gonna work. If they get Simmons it better include several other players and picks.

As for Harden, It will be so refreshing to have his choking ways plaguing some other team in big playoff games.

 

Seriously, just watch some film on Simmons.

Not even highlights just watch a game.

Simmons is a 6'10 forward with point skills and is a demon in transition.

And his defense is ELITE.

And even all my platitudes does not do him full justice.

No more “get shooters around him” and base an offense off drive and kick. I’m not signing up for another decade of that.

 

It might be the best proposal. I’m not sitting in there with stone, I don’t know what he’s hearing. But I’m not against a Simmons deal as long as Simmons is not the main get. It has to be Simmons And....and....and

 

It’s not like I haven’t seen him play. But I’ll watch more tape.

You are not going to get a better player/prospect than Simmons. I mean that’s fact. There isn’t a better player in draft or available in the league right now. If Morey actually has an offer that includes Simmons and picks you absolutely take it.

You can run a Princeton If you want, floor spacing is still incredibly important for ALL of the actions you hope to achieve on and off ball. It was critical for Adelman, Tex, Wooden, Rudy T, etc.

 

Lebron too, and Dirk, and Wade, and Shaq, and Duncan. Every champion of the last 50 years...

 

He's 6'10 with elite court vision, incredible athleticism and all NBA defense.

Imagine Westbrick at 6'10 that refuses to shoot. Thats Ben Simmons.

I think if we feature him on offense and run 4 shooters around him, he could average 23/11/10 next year. Its atleast a foundational piece that we can work with. I wish we still have Mike Dan Tony. Running Ben Simmons as a Point Center would be really interesting.

 

Stone really has impressed me on the way his handling this situation. Not selling low on his superstars just because they don’t want to be here.

Simmons is someone I really want here. His job is to create open shots, play defense and drive to the basket and he does all that at a high level.

 

Only problem is we don’t have shooters on our roster. Not good ones anyway

Yes, Wade is the best example of a superstar who "can't shoot". To me, it was a blessing for his teams that Wade wasn't camped out at the 3 point line waiting for the ball and then shoot it if wide open. Instead, he would take the ball hard to the rack and finish at the rim or get fouled (his strengths). It is not always about shooting even though the NBA is changing. It is still about making the right play and putting players in their best spot to come away with points. If Simmons is not comfortable shooting I am fine with that since he is so elite in transition, driving to the rim, and finding the right teammate to finish at the rim or kick out for an open 3. He makes the right play 99% of the time unlike Russ or even Harden to an extent who try to play hero too often instead of playing good, smart basketball especially in the playoffs.
