Wouldn't the Stepien rule put the last of those 6 first rounders 12 years away (potentially)?

    oh my dear.
Just wait for the Celtics to be involved.
In star trades, they are like flies when they meet a **** swarming over.
And their fans will flood with spam claiming Harden is worth 3 2nd rounders and a giftcard.

You think Harden production gonna outlast KD production? If so , ok I guess .. I was just curious on what you were thinking...

The only way this works is if we have 1 or 2 other teams on the hook to trade some of the Nets young talent for lottery picks, potentially in this draft. Any of the Nets players this tweet mentions worth a top 5 pick? If you are the Rockets you almost have to have a guaranteed high lottery pick or two before trading for these solid players and most likely mediocre picks (although 3 picks + 3 pick swaps) is a shitload.

Still not enough for my liking unless you are guaranteed a top 5 pick or two. If the Nets had someone else's valuable pick that would help tremendously but they don't at this point. Maybe package 2 of the Nets young players to see if you can get a top 5-10 pick and maybe a young underachieving talent. Again still too risky for the Rockets to make this trade without knowing they at least have an immediate chance at a superstar. Maybe the Nets can package Lavert, etc. + the 19th pick for the 3rd pick? Something to that effect.

Sorry. Been there, done that. He screwed us (two) many times. Let him be someone else's headache.

Not 6 picks. Would likely be 3 actual picks in alternating years(2021, 2023, 2025) and then 3 1st round pick swaps (2022, 2024, 2026) so we have the option of swapping if BKN's pick is lower which won't happen until like 2023 or 2024 at the earliest.

I believe that you are correct.

You can only trade away picks 7 years into the future. Brooklyn doesn't have their own pick this season and aren't owed any first round picks so they only have a total of 6 first rounders that they can trade. The Stepien rule however prevents them from being without a 1st round pick in two future drafts.

It would likely go as you stated. Firsts in '21, '23 and '25 and options to swap picks in the in between years.

The McMillian tweet that this is based on states picks and swaps...not just picks.

    Hopefully, this doesn't happen.

Funny, it wasn’t long ago people were railing against a potential trade with Giannis for Harden. Now look. Nah, You don’t trade a superstar away for bench players. First round picks are only good if you have a top five. You get an upcoming young star in return or you don’t trade him to the Nets, or the Sixers for that matter.

More than a few. We all know good fortune doesn’t touch down in Toyota Center very often.
