He’s not better and he’s never been better IMO. I’m no Russ fan, but this is not the deal to make.

 

Watch Westbrook get traded and pull a Chris Paul next season to become a positive asset

 

Fwiw, all the big reporters so far said Westbrook has poor value, the Hawks insider said yesterday that the few teams that have interest so far just offered something like a couple of 2nd rounders so...if all of this is true, don't expect anything great back, just hope the Wizards had enough of Wall and are ok with losing little assets to ship his ass out of DC for a similar contract that will at least stay on the court and not whine.

This is interesting, even though, if no trade down happens in the top two pick, Edwards and Wiseman will likely go and leave Ball right there for the Hornets at the 3.

What so many seem to be underplaying is that Wall is coming back from an Achilles injury. There is a very good chance he is not the same player, so you may be trading for a massive hole on your roster.

if I’m doing that deal, I want a massive return of picks and prospects for the risk I’m going to spend $130 million for zero production.

this is not “Westbrook is a few years older, and a worse shooter, but maybe a slightly better player overall, so it might be a wash...”. This is “Wall may not play again...give us tons of assets”.

 

Rui or don't do it. Seriously. I don't know why that's so hard to understand. Everyone has been saying how we'd have to take crap contracts and nothing else for Russ. John Wall is a 10X worse contract. Rui makes it worth it. He's special.

If Washington put a "massive return of picks and prospects" they would get someone better than a 31 year old Westbrook with a trade request and coming off the worst playoffs of his carreer.

Heck they could find simply somewhere to dump off Wall with half those assets and taking back better contracts.
