Is it true that more people have died this year from alcohol poisoning, traffic accidents, the flu and other everyday things than they have from Covid? If so, what exactly are we hiding from?
No. In the US, alcohol poisoning causes about 2200 deaths per year. Link Traffic accidents cause about 40,000 deaths per year. Link Flu causes 20,000 to 60,000 deaths per year. Link There has been over 250,000 deaths due to Covid19 in 8 months with many more to come. Keep in mind that this is with most people 'hiding' with behavior changes and masking. Covid19 is much more infectious and deadly than the regular flu. There had been an about 90% decrease in summer influenza activity in 2020 due to the behavior changes and mitigation efforts for Covid19. link Even with these mitigation efforts, SARS-CoV-2 is still spreading like wildfire. Now imagine a world where there are no mitigation efforts at all. The number of infected and dead people will be multitudes higher.
Coronavirus Emerged In Italy Earlier Than Thought, Study Shows The new coronavirus was circulating in Italy since September 2019, a study by the National Cancer Institute (INT) of the Italian city of Milan shows, signaling that COVID-19 might have spread beyond China earlier than previously thought. The Italian researchers' findings, published by the INT's scientific magazine Tumori Journal, show that 11.6% of 959 healthy volunteers enrolled in a lung cancer screening trial between September 2019 and March 2020, had developed coronavirus antibodies well before February.
So are they still going with the Chinese meat market source theory? Sorry, haven't been paying much attention at all.
Even if true, should we accept 250,000 (and growing) ADDITIONAL deaths just because more people die from other things?
Doesn't matter what they are. What matters is these numbers can be whatever they want them to be. We, nor they, have no way of proving how valid they are. Whatever they want you to believe they are, they are.
I don't think we have any way of knowing that they are inflated. I've seen no real evidence of that. There is some talk that the actual numbers would be higher because some people got sick and may have passed before people even knew to look for Covid19. Doctors, Hospitals, and Scientists are not involved in some conspiracy to inflate numbers. It is possible that there are errors made, but those can go either way. The best data available are the numbers that are being released. There have been mistakes made and corrected along the way. Hopefully that continues.
Mostly because of reports that many deaths recorded as Covid deaths actually had nothing to do with Covid. Plus, some major cities had to cut back on their numbers because of it. I think that will be the case all over when it's all said and done. Sorry for the long sentences.
I just feel that the so-called experts should be doing better when putting info out. The world is going off of everything they say, which explains the confusion. As far as that conspiracy talk, all I know is, where there's smoke, there's fire. Covid has a lot of smoke surrounding it being fanned by these experts.
Stop humoring these people. Even if their words are delivered in a calm tone, it's still trolling. Dan Crenshaw does the same thing. Speak calmly but disingenuously.
Well, not just on the deaths, but in general there has been a problem with the reporting. So the scientists and experts put out some projections but the projections are almost all conditional. They are numbers predicting what would happen if nothing at all was done to help curb the spread. Then people see the numbers and see that they aren't the numbers we have and try to use them to cast doubt on the accuracy of the scientists and experts. Doctors, hospitals, scientists all get nothing out of being dishonest in reporting inflated numbers of death from Covid19. It is horrible that they have been accused of this(I'm not saying that you are one of the people accusing them. I'm speaking in general and also the president specifically.) They aren't paid by amount of people who die from Covid19.
Oh, yes, I'm one of those people. No worries. I just tend to need better proof. You(not you, but doctors, scientists etc)can't claim to be an expert of something yet you're constantly making errors and being caught lying. That to me is a major red flag.
I think science is always based on the best data available at the time. As more data becomes available the conclusions will be influenced by that data. I haven't heard of any 'experts' caught lying except perhaps those that made claims about some of the treatments and those who were at the hospital treating Trump himself.
