I have little interest in giving trump credit for anything good, whether expressly or implicitly. It’s not that I could not come up with an example. Rather, it is because doing so emboldens trumpers who will think it is a sign that he really does deserve the Noble prize or belong on Mt Rushmore. And frankly, the turd in chief is not deserving of intellectual honesty, not when he has not offered any and continues to place himself first and damage the country like few have before him. No, I’m more likely to wish him a painful STD than I am to recognize anything positive he has done. I would gladly contribute to any foundation or organization whose sole mission is to ensure that trumps violence to democracy and decency is never forgotten and that he is dubiously “enshrined” as the worst president in American history and one of the worst human beings in the last century.

It's the 14th amendment to the Constitution. Like the Electoral College, it would be close to impossible to rescind.

Start by making masks mandatory in these Senate hearings. I love this guy so much better than Cruz.

Perhaps........but like the second amendment, it’s written rather poorly (at least for present times) and is open to some interpretation.

its actually pretty specific. No room for misinterpretation
All persons born in the US are citizens of the US.

All persons = no matter who your parent's are no matter what race, where they're from, rich or poor, etc...

The problem is not how it's poorly worded.

The problem is some people think this should be applied selectively.

Lawd yo stupid. You want to take everything written centuries ago and apply it to modern times? Times change and we have to adapt. Absolutely birthright citizenship is a sham and #1 incentive for illegals to endanger their own lives, or continue to be exploited by large corporations , and then of course the media makes it about cages on the border.

So your parents illegally stayed in America to birth you so you could ... complain on internet? that is racist to legal immigrants who followed rules.

Closer ties with Taiwan. Taiwan shouldn't be punished just because closer ties hurts the feelings of its neighbor.

Incentivising tsmc and samsung to diversify the production of silicon wafers stateside is also a good idea. Besides the threat of war, earthquakes are a real concern with tsmc, and so many us tech companies depend on them now.

The instinct may have been correct but the execution has been questionable. For example the ban on Google services hurt Google while spurring the chinese companies to develop alternatives. The alternatives aren't as good, but they are now more free of US spyware than before, and a revenue stream back to the US is now lost. The increased trade deficit at the end of 4 years also makes you wonder if it would have been better to do nothing.

The ban on huawei from fabricating chips at tsmc has a big impact on huawei in the short term, but it's also spurring big investment into smic to gain independence in semis faster. In the medium term, this may be worse than the previous status quo when it made more business sense for Chinese companies to fab at tsmc starving smic of revenue to reinvest into r&d.

And how many of those are here because of birth right citizenship? Further if children are born here and are citizens they aren't illegal immigrants by definition.

First off limiting immigration isn't the same as limiting birthright citizenship. Enforcing border laws, limiting visas and other such immigration measures don't have anything to do directly with birthright citizenship. For that matter the concern about "illegal" immigration a lot of that is driven by businesses willing to hire that labor but obviously it will be years before a newborn can work birthright citizenship doesn't affect that.

This is is another example of people looking to target immigrants for a problem that primarily exist because of US businesses.

Yes it was part of the package of rights from Reconstruction. The Wong Ark Kim case expanded those rights and was important as Chinese immigration had been recently curtailed through the Exclusion acts while Chinese, and others, in the US were denied basic rights and weren't allowed to become citizens even if they were born in the US.

Trump obstructed and obfuscated measures public health measures to combat the virus but the specific vaccine development seems to have gotten very good support from the Trump Administration.

Even if he hasn't done a good job this thread title is about a policy direction you do not want Biden to undo. Project Warp Speed is definitely a policy I don't want to be undone.

Support for WHO. They have no clue what they are doing and have a billion dollar a year budget. Did they fly into Wuhon when this initially happened? Clutchfans reported around 1/1/2020 and they didn't even investigate it 1st hand until months later. Maybe they could have someone scan Clutchfans and Reddit full time for 75k.

And what are you doing with the money on the "down" years? Have you even built a well in Africa? Cleanliness is the number 1 thing you need to fight spread of germs and you need water for that. Pretty sure they just hang out at conferences all year.

2020 was definitely game time and they looked about as prepared as a bottom ranked peewee team
