Correct me if I wrong but we just opened up our full mle? If we can sign someone to the full mle and package those picks for a player while adding what’s left of Ariza maybe we can field a competitive team and give it a shot until the deadline. Not against a rebuild though
There isn’t anyone on the MLE market who brings what Robet did. This is either a money saving move or they are rebuilding. Either way Houston won’t be competitive next year.
DIdn't even consider that, a pathetic attempt to appease Harden by making the team MUCH worse but adding his friend? Even Tilman isn't that dumb...I hope?
just throwing this out there. It is more likely that we start the rebuild but I honestly feel like stone has something up his sleeve
No. There is nothing up his sleeve. The 16th pick in weak draft is doo doo. He traded our 2nd best player to either 1) Save money or 2) We are rebuilding.
Just to make some people feel better, the way Covington got abused by Schroeder, CP3 and SGA really bothered me. Danuel House did a better job guarding CP3 then Covington and that was really confusing. Covington was getting blown by nonstop by the small guards, and then when he guarded Lebron got easily overpowered. He hit the 3 ball like a mad man and was great blocking shots down low though.
I guess that makes sense... Especially if they plan to tank for the next few years. Personally I thought a team with ben simmons, Gordon, covington, tucker etc would've been pretty good.
Ariza is non guaranteed money. In theory they could flip it in a sign and trade to Toronto to get Serge Ibaka the money he wants. I'm holding a small sliver of hope that the Rockets are attempting to rebuild the team with having a more competent big man in the middle. I'm in denial of course, but it's hard to accept reality so making up **** in my head.
We're heading for the lottery without our own picks! Genius! Also, **** Harden for demanding to be traded to the Nets only. He's trying to tank his value as much as possible so the team he goes to doesn't gut their roster. He full ring-chasing now after he denied the 50mil/year extension.
So we are rebuilding. There is literally no other reason behind it. It makes ZERO competitive basketball sense especially since our franchise player and his all star companion are trying to win now. Unless of course Tilman, Stone and Patrick are complete ****ing tools which is probably also likely.
Who knows with that guy. The only scenario this trade makes sense on its own is if they think it makes Harden happy. I don't think that's it but it is the only way I could see this trade making sense.
