Don't get me wrong, i don't like that trade either, as i said it's way too much to give up, especially cause George is expiring, something i could probably be more ok with is: George, Beverley, Kabengele for Westbrook, Covington (no pick) And of course i'd take Kawhi if possible, but i don't think they'll trade him, i think Kawhi for them is pretty much what Harden is for us in terms of how important he is for the franchise, PG is probably just in the Russ tier for them, but that's just my guess.
How about Russ and Covington for Trez signed for 20 million long term and George? 20 million because to make the salaries work. Harden Gordon PG Trez Noel? Then you can trade House and Tucker in a package for more depth or better players
We know Westbrook was supporting Lue for our HC, and George and he are friends, but why would anyone think that Westbrook + George part 2 would be better than part 1, assuming Kawhi would be leaving? The “deal” definitely doesn’t include George or Kawhi. Both of those guys wanted to be in LA, and left good teams to make it happen. If they want Westbrook, it’s for scraps, not their star players. There are basically two routes for us with Westbrook: a washed former star (Griffin, Love) or role players that fit better. the only thing that somewhat makes the Clippers interesting is that both of their stars can leave next offseason. But how does Westbrook help that?
Remove Covington and the first-round pick from the deal, and I’d strongly consider it. Paul George is an ideal partner for James Harden. As is, it’s way too much.
Hell no. George isn't the same player post leg injury. Covington played his best ball in the playoffs...by far. But giving up another #1....for PG. Not sure I'd even do RW for PG straight up at this point. Maybe. There are way better deals being discussed.
He was phenomenal last year in OKC. I think it is more his lifestyle in LA, than his injury that is a problem.
I have no doubt EG is available/being shopped.... And, yes....he's criminally underrated here. ( that contract is a great facilitating piece too) Before they got the okay from James and started shopping Russ, EG HAD to be moved.
He helps that if the one (Kawhi) who doesn't like the other (George) wants Russ maybe. I also wouldn't doubt that the Clippers would have serious interest in moving George (expiring) if that means getting back Westbrook and Covington plus a 1st rounder, that would be a pretty good package for an expiring player who they might consider too similar to Kawhi now (covid's impact on the salary cap might have screwed some of their plans too).
I would do George for WB, Tucker and a top 10 protected 2023 1st. I would not include Covington for George. if it were Kawhi, I’d swap Covington for Tucker. But the Clippers aren’t doing that.
Not happening. But just for spitball sake, If you can turn westbrick into pg13, without a doubt that's a huge upgrade. and has the foundation of making houston an immediate legit contender. However, if you're adding guys like RoCo or Tuck in there, the rockets better be getting back someone like JaMychal Green as well or Lou
