    "Defund the police" got their idea in the newspapers, so in that sense it was great marketing. But it seems like a lot of people mean different things by it, more people don't understand it at all, and still others purposely misrepresent it to score cheap points. In that sense, terrible marketing.

    So forget the slogan. What I would like to see is a more narrow mission for Houston police officers and a larger remit for other social service agencies. And the dollars should follow. That does not mean we don't police murder.

    I dont totally disagree with the decreasing of the militarization of the police. That being said if a situation arises that needs that equipment its nice to have

    My point is that the city of Houston is not on the "defund the police" bandwagon.

    It's terrible that there were 6 homicides Monday in Houston, but defund the police has nothing to do with it.
