NEXT GEN Gaming Console, PS5 and Xbox Series X news/upates

I get about an hour or two a night. On the one or 2 nights a month I don’t have my daughter I get all hyped up to play buy a bunch of booze and snacks then after about 2 hours in I’m ready to pass out. If it wasn’t for covid I’d be using that time to slam ass.

 

They’re not releasing in store so waiting outside isn’t going to work this time. Best bet is to open all retailers on separate tabs and start refreshing like hell at midnight. Also keep twitter open and follow some gaming accounts put ps5 in the search bar and go to latest and keep refreshing. They’ll let you know if something pops up.

 

I just want to pay the money, not do stuff. Hopefully they're reasonably priced on eBay.

 

Anyone have an idea or a guess of when supplies might become stable?

 

My guess is January. There usually is a dip in retail in January because most people have exhausted their buying power in the holidays. But who knows, it's hard to build a pc that has the type of SSD perfromance that the PS5 has for 499 with out resorting to the used market.

 

Just went to a local Walmart and asked for an Xbox. Employee told me that they had but weren't selling them til Thursday. Wtf?

 

Managed to order a Series X from the Microsoft store last night. The site said Dec 22 at the beginning, but my email confirmation said Nov 12. We'll see.

I wasn't planning on getting a console, but it's impossible to find an RTX 3080 series graphics card atm.

 

Still on the hunt this morning. If I don't get anything I actually don't care anymore. Is this ADULTING?

 

I would take a hard look at the RX 6800 XT when it launches. TSM makes great chips, Samsung can be hit or miss sometimes. If you do go Nvidia wait till they go back to TSM, you will get way better performance.

Those 499 would net you a single used GPU equivalent to the one in PS or XSX5 and that's it lol.
Even if you only go with used parts, you'd end up far above 1k to match next gen performance.

Yeah I planned on the Walmart online release, had two accounts ready, credit card info already saved, two computers open with me & my girl, was watching the timer and everything, we clicked right when it hit 1, both added one to cart, then both said sold out when clicking confirm order.

I'm guessing people are running bots to re-sell them because that was ridiculous.

 

Did anyone in Houston area try getting an XBox from Wal-Mart or Gamestop today?

 

I mean that’s just the way it’s gone this year. You can go check eBay but you’ll probably be paying at least double.

 

I have a little story about Walmart.

I ordered assassins creed Valhalla through Walmart when preorders went up using half credit card and half gift card. I also had ordered cod at Best Buy. A couple days ago I saw that target was doing buy 2 get 1 free on some preorders. So I re ordered Valhalla and cod plus cyberpunk all for about 16 bucks off a piece, planning on returning BB and Walmart orders.

fast forward to today and my Valhalla order came in from Walmart BUT it wasn’t the ps4 version that I ordered it was the Xbox version. So I calmly called Walmart support and told them that basically this is going to be a pain in the ass trying to find another one in time for launch and they offered me a 10 dollar promo code for the hassle. Ok cool.

I head up to Walmart to get a refund for the Xbox Valhalla and what I was worried about was confirmed. If they issued a direct refund half would go back to the original gift card so to make sure I’d get the full amount back they’d have to issue me a new gift card that included the amount paid on my credit card. Not ideal but ok.

the guy fiddles around but there’s an issue. The internet is down and he can’t get the system to issue the gift card. His solution is to just give me CASH back instead so I can just re buy the game. Ok cool.

As I’m walking back to buy the game I decide I can just wait an extra couple days for the target order to come in and should be thankful that I got cash instead of a gift card because I was going to return the Walmart Valhalla anyway plus I got the 10 dollar promo code for the **** up.

I drive home and check my email to see if the promo code had been sent and what do I find? Not only is the promo code there but also a gift card for the full amount of the game. Holy ****.

So before they could change anything I jumped on the Walmart app and ordered a ps5 controller using the gift card for like 54 plus the 10 dollar promo and paid 10.75 total. Pretty awesome outcome for what was tuning into an annoying **** up on their part.
