i cannot tell if this is just parroting trump lines, or real belief. The former is sort of expected. The latter remains disturbing, like how trumpers bought every lie he spewed during his four years. question for the board - is Biden’s call for calm and unity possible if this reflects a large part of the country? will it be enough if Biden gets covid under control and enacts programs that helps the blue collar worker?
His calls for unity won’t work...at least at first. If he gets COVID under control and helps the blue collar worker, he’ll gain supporters. No matter what, there are always people that only support Rs and think Ds are evil.
I for one, am enjoying and delighting this week. It's like catching the shark in Jaws and watching him desperately flopping around on the boat. It's the strength of American Democracy flexing. It also is a stark example to The People, even some trumpers, of how this GOP is all about power and not about the best interest of the Country. They are only about self-interest, don't care about precedent or rule of law, and will attempt to bully honest people doing an honorable job. It's evidence of the fascist tendencies we need quash at every turn. I watched 'Human Nature' on Netflix last night. They explained the almost magical ability of a bacteria genetically 'learning' the DNA sequence of an attacking virus, and incorporating it into its own DNA so that it can identify and confront future attacks. I like that analogy for America right now. We've been attacked by an undemocratic virus, but we fought it off and it didn't take us over. Now we know what it's DNA looks like, can clearly identify it and we can defend ourselves much better going forward. So flop around shark, show everyone, worldwide really, your DNA. Well be better defenders of freedom and Democracy for it.
It really was a chance to turn toward decency and mutually shared reality, but those three you mention are going all von Papen on us, thinking they can use such a dangerous psychology to their advantage.
