I tried this my freshman year of HS in 1996. I was like, Carnal, this isn't working for me. Went back to my Palais Royal duckhead chinos. Which were also a problem in 1990s. Chinos and Khakis were like triple pleated it seemed.

Oh, I remember that era well and remember people that had pants literally that big. The one that had the biggest ones was some girl I once hung out with but I don't remember her name or what the context of the interaction was.

I still have my pair of JNCOs from, yeah, 1998. I had been picked on so much in 7th grade that 8th grade was a real fashion changing point for me. Got contacts and said goodbye to the horrible big, ever-broken glasses I'd worn for the previous three years. Started buying brand-name clothes emulating my peers. Made the basketball team that year, so I had Nike everything. My JNCOs are the official brand, but they're really just larger than average wide-leg jeans. Probably some of the most understated ones you could buy. People liked them. It was a worthwhile investment. They were not popular for very much longer. I still sometimes wear them around the house when all my other pants are dirty.

I also don't get gauges. I really, really don't get gauges. Tattoos can be in hidden places. Piercings can heal over. What do you do when you decide you no longer want holes in your earlobe you can put a golf ball through? To be fair, golf ball through ear lobe is probably a decent bar trick.

I feel like in the past 10-15 years, beards just finally became acceptable. Not specific styles of well-groomed beard. Just "I didn't feel like shaving every damn day so I'm currently in beard mode" beards. Obviously, this can look like crap if left completely unchecked, but it's nice a change of pace from feeling like you've got to be a ****ing Yankee every day of your life. Also, I have a somewhat weak chin, so a beard helps with that.

Ironically, I'm probably going to end up shaving more and more, because I'm starting to get patches of gray in my beard, and I don't consider a beard to be a fashion accessory, so I'm not going to go to the trouble of dyeing it. Probably.

Gray patches in beards are trendy too right? I have seen plenty of guys (well not lately due to Covid) at events and meetings that had gray streaks in their beards. Some to the point it looked like they purposely did it.

Tbh, you can just get that just for men beard/mustache brush that is closest to your hair color and just put some in the gray areas and lightly run it through the other areas to blend. It takes 5 min and last 2-3 weeks. It is easier than using a razor every day.

I've thought about trying that just for the hell of it now that mine has got some gray in it, only problem is that my natural beard color is about 3 different colors (brown/blonde/red)

I too have similar hair colors and I use the M25. It blends in pretty damn good if you use more in lighter areas and less in darker areas. And I’m talking like a box of it last half a year. It doesn’t take much (just use it in the gray areas). Any beard that looks like Carlos Boozer paint ain’t a real beard. It should have character in different shades of light if you’re not a metro or this guy..

That guy cannot have any friends to let him go out like that.

    That reddit thread is hilarious.
