Revoking tax-exempt status of churches with over X amount of revenue would be one of my first executive orders or legislative initiatives, whichever it takes.
The system isn’t rigged or either candidate is cheating. It’s just most people think we (irrespective of political leanings) are nuts for following politics as closely as we do and vote how they’re going to vote regardless of the actual issues at hand. Those non-attentive voters vote based on what they voted in the past (we always voted Republican (or Democrat)) or who ever supports the one issue they may care about (that candidate supports guns, environment, taxes, education, etc). But the reality is most Trump or Biden voters couldn’t name what their respective party platforms were outside of the one or two key issues they may care about. It’s why 15 minimum wage passes hugely but the Republican also wins.
As someone outside of the US, it's legit crazy to see things like this, Rudy's incoherent speech yesterday, that female spiritual advisor and the stuff Trump says or tweets about. I feel like those people would be straight-up dragged to a mental facility and put on meds in most parts of the developed world, it's insane how they have an audience and success in your country. We literally laugh our asses off when seeing these individuals or how one side is yelling "stop the count" while the other is chanting "count the votes", completely contradictory statements that should make any person with an IQ above zero re-evaluate their actions and sanity. The same goes for guys whining about "clear fraud" and corruption, when an army of Trump's lawyers actually gets laughed out of the courts atm and can't even provide a single shred of evidence for their delusional accusations. 71mil citizens supporting that absolute clown show is absolutely unreal and speaks volumes about the rampant brainwashing and dysfunctional education system in your country.
Agree and would even take to the extreme of no exception. I am really curious if this is criminal activity.
Waiting for him to get covid. I know it is mean but if anyone that deserves it, besides the orange man, it is him
They should at minimum have to open their books and show how much of their money is going to legitimate "help the people" type functions, and that should be deductible...tax everything else. There are smaller local churches who do great things, both in the community and abroad, and I'm wary of placing a financial burden on them.
They aren't supposed to, but you'd get crucified if you tried to enforce it at this moment in American history.
A lot of these people believe Trump was ordained by God to win and are now having to cope with the reality that God voted for Biden.
I understand that part but what does the law say? We've prosecuted pastors in the past for other crimes.
Trump saying Biden rushing to claim victory is laughable. He took 5 days from the election to do so. I'd bet that's one of the longer pauses between election and victory speech in modem elections.
I got my answer about preachers getting involved in politics. Johnson Amendment The Johnson Amendment is a provision in the U.S. tax code, since 1954, that prohibits all 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations from endorsing or opposing political candidates. Section 501(c)(3) organizations are the most common type of nonprofit organization in the United States, ranging from charitable foundations to universities and churches. Interestingly.... "On May 4, 2017, Trump signed an executive order "to defend the freedom of religion and speech" for the purpose of easing the Johnson Amendment's restrictions."
