Maybe not cabinet but she could be in a furrowed wardrobe.

Elizabeth Warren isn't going to get a Cabinet role as long as there's a republican governor in MA. No Dem senator with a GOP governor that can automatically replace them is getting a spot. That includes Bernie.

Chris Coons is likely to get a post.

She’d never take it, but it would get us a Democratic Senator from Maine if she did. The only reason I’d support doing it. Sneaky idea.

If this has been brought up my apologies, but what about a position for Obama? I think he'd be great in some sort of cabinet role.

IMHO, regardless of his ability to perform this role, this appointment might trigger the other party and cause even more division. This maybe the reason why he stayed away from the limelight during this election as the right did a great job of vilifying him

That's quite possibly the case as well. Just thought of it and figured would be cool. Maybe even give him a small role, but at the same time **** the GOP.

Biden should adopt Mayor Pete so he can take on the Ivanka and sons cabinet position.

Doesn’t need to. Hunter is available.

McConnell still controls the Senate schedule and what comes up for a vote. He'll allow votes on the cabinet, so I don't see that being a problem. But on everything else? He still essentially has full control (if Dems don't get the 2 votes in GA).

The only hopeful thing is Biden has long-established relationships with him and other Senators. Even during the Obama administration, when McConnell was obstructionist, Biden and McConnell managed to accomplish some things. We'll see if he can leverage anything leftover from that working relationship here.

Someone on TV pointed out that McConnell being obstructionist these next two months with Covid relief/etc may not be helpful to the GOP keeping the two GA Senate seats, so that's an interesting sidebar as well.

While Stacy Abrams deserves just about any role she wants, I agree with the suggestion that she head up the DNC and the effort to gain the Senate majority in 2022. In addition to her ability to increase Democrat voters, her accomplishments in Georgia will give her the respect needed to herd the Democrat politicians/talking heads into unified talking points.

Once you’ve been president you really don’t wanna go backwards.

I can see that too. I think Obama would take a role if offered though. He doesn't seem like he'd be too good for a role. Trump certainly would scoff at the idea of serving under a future GOP president. I hear what you're saying though.

Maybe I'm being daft, but haven't we seen now in bright light how a president can avoid senate confirmations with "interim" appointments? I guess if I'm Biden, I don't hesitate to follow that system hack if McConnell wouldn't bring my nominees to a vote.

Not that that would happen, but cabinet members are in the line of succession to become President, so I assume Obama is disqualified due to that.
