Without senate control, it's like Lakers winning in bubbleville while everything inside still reeks of Dwight's farts.
Getting it to 49 (still a longshot), you have the 4 year possibility of dry humping Susan Collins as she chooses which 2 votes out of 6 to side with Dems. Ideally we get rid of the feet dragging with useless process committees no one cares about and make her vote in quantity, Murray style. =\
...if I may... ...I think you maybe should give your sister credit for changing her mind, more than you convincing her... ...your influence and proximity and relationship with her helped, of course... ...but at the end of the day...barring anything horrendous...we are people who are free to think as we please in this country. That's why, whenever I do decide to rail on here about something, it's usually about this idea that somebody gets duped into believing something is true when they probably know it isn't. ...I think I'm guilty of giving people more credit for being reasonably intelligent (or perhaps more simply, just being reasonable) than a great deal of them probably deserve. I've always felt that telling me what I need to know (as opposed to what I maybe wanted to hear) was more than enough for me to decide what I needed to do. I'm probably one of the few Negroes who really doesn't give a damn about anybody being some weird permutation of a white supremacist...especially if they present that ideology out in broad daylight (or at night, if they're looking for the visual a torch provides)... ...I trust myself to make at least a semi-informed decision if I got all the facts. I know there's a bit of a principle involved, about going back to recover lost sheep, or helping others see the light, as it were... ...(I remember, back when the Donald got elected, giving my friend @Deckard a bit of a hard time about not giving everybody who voted for the Donald a hard time, when I knew what the consequences of voting for him would be)... ...but if you influenced your sister in any way, it was because you stayed where you were (and it's almost immaterial in this case that your politics are conservative or republican). ...The truth, as it often is, is something of a constant. People don't "find" the truth...or "discover" the truth...as much as they stumble upon it being right wherever they managed to ignore it or forget about it. ...I guess, maybe, I have a bit too much faith in the human condition...because at the end of it...it's about all there is to have faith in...
100% all the credit goes to her for having an open mind and building her option based on facts. We need more of that in this country.
