Bernie doesn't need to excite suburban voters. He just needs to get the same turnout that the GOP does with their registered voters for the Democrat base of young people and minorities. They always have significanltly lower turnout rates than the GOP core constituency. And a large part of that is because many young people and minorities don't see the difference between someone like Biden and someone like Romney or McCain and hence are apathetic. Trump turned out the vote for young people and minorities this time. But we won't always have a Trump to motivate the base to come out and vote.

Because Bernie never co-authored a crime bill that made it worse for the poor urban black community and didn't fight against federal desegregation efforts such as busing and instead wanted to relt on the "good will" of historically racist states to desegregate their schools. So he was either very naive there or really wanted to appease segregationists for votes.

So I see you are just throwing in the towel.

Can you at least provide that M4A link from SC.

    Thanks.

We also have to move past what one candidate could have done if they were the nominee or not. We'll never know. It's like arguing if Jordan's Bulls would have beaten Curry/KDs Warriors or if KD/Harden/Westbrook stayed together they would have won 5 rings.

It's fun to talk about and speculate but I would not personally waste much time thinking about it. Biden won. We have no idea really if Trump would have done better or worse against Bernie, Pete, Warren, or anyone.

Problem is that you need *11* Republicans in that scenario plus McConnell to go along with it. Dems wouldn't control the Senate, meaning they can't kill the filibuster and McConnell has full control of what bills to bring up for a vote.

Yep. Either you get to 50 Dems in the Senate or you can prepare for full-scale lockdown until 2022.

The people who reelected Susan Collins can eat a fat one.

The tweet is talking about reaching out to Trump voters dealing with loss, not those who aren't accepting the L.

Thank you. There are far too many confounding factors. Instead we should look at long term trends such as lower turnout for young people and minorities that usually happens every presidential election and midterms. Why are GOP voters far more motivated to vote in things like smaller local elections, runnoffs, mid-terns?

Why is the GOP so much more successful in getting their base to vote than the Democrats.

Bernie could not excite enough democratic voters during the primary and anybody who is looking at these voting results knows that Bernie would have activated suburban voters.

Those voters and blacks are why Biden won and Bernie could not get them.

Polls are too often overrated. The reality simply does not support the polls. GOP were very successful in using ACA as a clobbering tool against the Dems. M4A would have been used as a wrecking ball.

Bernie would have easily been tagged a socialist. The election would have become a war against communism in which the average american would have instinctively voted against Bernie. Bernie would have lost the election by a large margin cos he would have lost the moderates with his extreme ideologies, while he would never win the rural america from the tight clutches of the GOP.

You seem to think too highly of the US electorate but the reality is that they are very ignorant and dont carefully consider policies when voting. This is a country where 70m voted that Trump deserves a second term!

Bernie has no change. Like Biden said he (Biden) beat him (Bernie) with no money. Democrats need to focus on a few things most people agree about. More jobs and affordable healthcare. No green new deal. No Defund police.

Once again you are just saying **** that has nothing to do with the topic.

And even with all of these things Bernie could not get the black vote.
