It’s going to take some time for the tension to fade. I think once they sit back and come to the realization of how bad things got under trump they’ll prefer going back to civility.
I do think Dems can concede and negotiate some things with the GOP but there are things they cannot and should not. Healthcare and Climate. They have the majority here, they are on the right side of history here, and their future relies on them backing these issues as Millenials and Gen Zers massively want these things. Simply convince the GOP that this is the future. If we win even ONE senate seat in GA, I could see it passing. Remember, Biden won in TWO red states. Yes, there are moderate Republicans in senate, I know it did not seem like it in the past 4 years, but they had no reason to be moderate with the GOP controlling everything. Collins for example votes with Dems on environmental issues sometimes, they can probably convince her for stuff like that...probably won't convince her with healthcare but... Negotiating is a lot easier when you're the party in power. I'm sure the Dems can find a lot of middle ground with immigration. A wall was never a good idea anyways and I'm sure infrastructure should be bi-partisan. We have to know that Mitch will do what's good for his party but Schumer has to find a way around him.
Making excuses? People really have issues distinguishing between normative and positive statements. He'd not lying. He's just speaking out of his ass as there are too many confounding factors to have some sort of definitive conclusion on what caused a right race.

You're right, I misread what he posted. "defund the police" (I suggested reform the police months ago) and "socialism" are buzzwords that will kill the Dems for years, if they let it.
