Trump's worst enemy was people like who supported and amplified his nonsense, encouraging to going down the ridiculous path he went. If his supporters pushed back, Trump might not have been nearly as bad.
I agree there was a cycle of feeding off one another ...if a group of questionable background liked Trump, Trump was slow to criticize or maybe didn’t know enough to say the right words, saying the right words was also a aspect of being a novice in the political arena.,..it’s a cut throat biz that the biased media or opposing politicians will absolutely pounce on as they should. Nearly half the country doesn’t buy what the opposing political platform states and Trump exemplifies that fact, a person as bad as he is would still gather half the country decision making trust ...but I don’t think his supporters created Trump. Trump had the control of himself
Compromise depends on what the GOP is willing to give up. We'll see. There are 'moderates' on both sides. If Biden can bring just a pinch of non-partisanship back to the senate then his presidency will be a huge success.
I’m all for it, these cracker jacks work for us even with opposing viewpoints we are on the same team ...team America, let’s do it. Get people to work, save lives and be talk to each other instead of what we had . Let go of bitterness , hate and make the future better for our children ...let’s communicate, tell each other what we value, why we value what we do and find ways to put it into one bowl of soup we all can eat from ...
I was talking about my business and I’m gonna tell you something but please don’t tell some of Uber left wing crazies such as @KingCheetah around here because they might March on my street and throw eggs at the house or something but I’m in the lawn care business that has absolutely done Amazing the last couple years ...I was able to purchase a new construction manor, I may be able to purchase my next car cash (either a 5.0 mustang or Supra) I have a growing clientele that many happen to be Biden supporters and I know this because the sign they have in the yard, of course my initial reaction is to “accidentally “ run over the sign but these clients are good people, they often pay more than the agreed rate ...we just happen to believe in different political values but that’s ok, look the point is we established a relationship first as people. If that connection didn’t happen they could easily hire someone else ...I have never done as well financially than the last 3 years. I am blessed but I form the basis of the success on relationships. What did I learn? Communication is actually near the top ...being dependable but also being honest even if they don’t want to hear the news ...these are things that can resonate with establishing relationships among those that we don’t share the same ideology. We need to take the negatives of 2020, learn from them and build back better thru working and having relationships with those we differ from politically
Following legislation, engaging newspapers and programs of record and researching history for analogous circumstances and policy risks should be the way people get information and formulate their understanding of political ideologies, not blindly hoping for compromise without citing any examples other than dinging the "other team" for not having it.
The problems is with folks like @gifford1967 and @Newlin is these turds live in the past, can’t get past with the fact I said it’s sad that Ruth died and I hope her last moments would be a realization is she would be replaced by Trump ..big woo hoo honestly , others actually wished trump would die which is worse , multiple folks. So glad I’m knocking out these turds on ignore one by one like roaches haha. But can we be better or will we climb to the past that’s the question
That’s fine and good we should do the research but that’s a vacuum, what is more consequential is building relationships with those that differ politically. If we simply get down to the what and the why then maybe we can affect people better to make the changes we need to...look my contention is not whether Biden or trump wins although it’s looking like Biden on the Presidency..it’s whether or not we have the right process in place for half the country that believes one way and half that believes another ...this isn’t the Texans vs the Titans ...we are on the same team. Team America .Fock yea and did the democrats in Trumps worst year win in a landslide of 2020? Absolutely not ...we are fractured, even a showman that had so many failings still gathered a near even election with a decision not made in days ....what does this mean? Well it means you ain’t gonna have it your way, republicans got the Supreme Court. Do you think there won’t be repercussions if one side tries to pack the court or add states? Really ...we either work together because half the country don’t buy what the other is selling so Biden talks about working with republicans...how do we think this happens? Come on man it’s about compromise and we compromise thru sitting across from one another looking at another in the eyeball and laying it out but with consideration that you can’t get all that you want when half the country is not buying
My hope is that progressives won’t get too mad when compromising is what needs to be done to help citizens
It's very difficult to have meaningful discussion or "build relationships" with people who are living in a factually-devoid fantasy land. Like say, someone whose entire view of the economy under Trump was debunked by a poster doing a quick google search and posting some actual numbers; or the other poster a few days ago who claimed that Trump's healthcare plan to replace the ACA was blocked by a Democrat-controlled Senate.
Well, the single biggest obstructionist force against bipartisanship has been the GOP leader in the Senate since 2007. You might want to contact his office if you think it would actually make a difference.
