Yes, I watched every single game. Multiple times each. And Rivers averaged 23 mpg last season, definitely a part of Rockets rotation. Not recalling a "lot" of DNP's for Rivers during regular season unless he was injured or just playing like a hot mess. https://www.nba.com/stats/player/203085/ So unavailability shortened the rotation but when healthy, Rockets had a 9 man regular season rotation. And even with EGo out due to injury, we did see more of players like Demarre and even end of benches like Clemons or Frazier. Demarre actually averaged 17 mpg with Rockets when he played. And befor Demarre and Green were added, Rockets also utilized Sefolosha for 10 mpg. At some point, playing anyone just to have a 9+ man rotation is not justified. Players have to be more than just competent in the system and perform consistently at certain level. Expanded rotations matter but having more talent matters more.
and MDA played him in 18 fewer games than he played in as a Clipper... fact remains... He played more minutes in his first season with the Clippers than he did in either season with the Rox... period. So "Trez played more minutes as a rook under MDA than he did his 1st season with Clips." is incorrect - on multiple levels... (A) he wasnt a rook w MDA - and B) he never played more mins for the Rox than he did for the Clippers...) so your declaration was incorrect... i didnt see you acknowledge that... lol
I will acknowledge that Trez was not a rook with MDA. But Trez still played more minutes per game his lone season with MDA than his 1st season with Doc.
That wasnt your quote... quote was... You've already acknowledged that Trez wasnt a rook under MDA... now lets take the next step... Did he play more or less minutes under MDA? - Well the #s dont lie... 1064 mins under MDA... and 1293 first year with the Clips... You can try to spin it into mpg - even though he played in 18 fewer games with MDA... I mean Harden played 36.5 mpg last season... If I went in and played 40 mins the last game of the season, I'd have a mpg of 40.0 vs Hardens 36.5 mpg.... does that mean I played more minutes than Harden last season? lol See man... this is the problem nowadays... even when someone is wrong and presented with the clear evidence - they still wont concede... Its clear what the # of minutes he played in both scenarios is... but I guess it all depends on what your definition of 'is' is... lmao...
You can have your gotcha moment. Congrats! Trez was a 2nd year C behind Capela and Nene. Both Clint and Nene were clearly better at the time. Heck, Trez grew into more minutes when he moved past Chinanu his 2nd season with MDA. Trez could not move past either Dekker at 4 because his perimeter D was poor and could not take Ryno's minutes because Ryno was a better spacer and rebounder. But I was wrong for inferring total minutes when I meant MPG. The fact that Trez averaged almost 20 mins per game is significant because he was not just playing in blowout minutes or just at end of games. This still has no bearing on whether MDA developed him, Trez was an improving 2nd year player on a stacked team. The year before Trez had even more players ahead of him in Smoov, TJones and DMo.
and after Nene went down in Trez's 2nd year... MDA ran a 7 man rotation rather than give Trez minutes in the playoffs...
Maybe but I doubt it's with a contender. I think contending teams have moved past him as a head coach. If he was really the main target of a contending team he wouldn't have had to take an assistant job. But as I said before, I think that is the best role for him on a contenting team. Some people are better at focusing on a particular task versus managing the whole show.
It is conventional wisdom that a coach of D'Antoni's caliber would be a HC in NBA. If Nets are in ECF, he will definitely get another HC offer.
I might has misread what you originally posted. I thought you were saying that if Nash leads the Nets to a Top 3 record the Nets organization would fire Nash to allow MDA to take over.
