His immunity as sitting President is universal (except for the impeachment process of course). Once he leaves office, his ass is completely in the breeze except for federal crimes where Biden will likely pardon him.
We reluctantly congratulate Joe Biden on winning the election. The Constitution of the US must be faithfully executed and I think the citizens, the Senate, the Supreme Court and the House will keep Biden and his buddies in check. Run it through the process is the right response IMO.
The new pandemic relief bill negotiations is gonna have an impact on this. Mitch wants a smaller limited bill, let’s see how the two current Senators approach this and how that polls in GA. Also, if Trump continues to throw a tantrum over this, it will force the two Senators to take a side also, and risk either alienating the Trumpists or motivating Dems and centrists to vote against them.
I actually took the time to re-watch that famous correspondents' dinner last night, since I've always maintained Trump only ran to get back at Obama for making fun of him. And yeah, I still think that. I forgot just how bad Seth Meyers eviscerated him too. Trump was the only one in the room not laughing. Just freaking livid the entire time.
He can pardon himself (and his family) on the way out - there is literally no downside to him doing so.
YOu broke the first rule of Mitch McConnell, which is always expect the absolute worst, most misanthropic, black-hearted behavior.
I hope the same Arizona voters that voted Trump out are paying attention to the elected officials that stand with him right now. Crenshaw, Cruz, Cornyn, Abbott, Paxton, Patrick, Judge Andrew Hanen of Harris County. I'm doing my best to keep tabs and I know there's more I haven't listed. They're all enablers to this lunacy.
All these senators and house reps that support Trump's coup, I hope they lose their next election. I hope by the time they are up again for election, Trump will be seen as such of a joke (like GW Bush) that tying your wagon to him at any time sinks you. Unfortunately...I feel like Cruz is going to be one of these forever Senators...I really hope I am wrong.
Ya man, I know I'm outraged but I also know there is a big Republican constituency in Texas that are glad these officials stand with Trump. It's an uphill battle to throw these guys out. My POV doesn't necessarily align with more of my fellow neighbors unfortunately.
