She'll probably sell it like that. Personally believe it? I hope she doesn't live in that large of a bubble.
IMO, Obama was a populist. Trump is a populist. GWB was not. Palin, Hillary and Harris are not. Maybe one can see Palin as a local folklore hero who gained national attention, but I digress ... she was a kook in her own right. A discussion could be had that women struggle with leadership as a whole. Interestingly enough, First Ladies often do well. It seems they are more useful than VP's TBH. Could you see Michelle Obama defeating Trump? Nancy Pelosi?
Oh I agree.... It's all an act with Trump. Trump is the type of person to get his lawyers to hold you while he wails on you.
I don't entirely agree with Spanberger here - look at Minnesota, the epicenter of police protests - how much did it cost them there? Like basically nothing other than losing a rural seat that was going to go red anyway, and Biden crushed Hillary's numbers statewide. Again, it's WAY WAY TOO EARLY to have these kinds of takes. Like I posted before, House Dems got MORE VOTES than they did last time out, MAGA turnout was higher, so red-district dems had their gooses cooked - seems right now to be a pretty valid hypothesis for House troubles, but need more data to actually validate it. Also, spanberger saying we "lost races we shouldn't have lost" begs the question of "what's a shouldn't have lost" race? It incorporates obviously some polling assumptions but also I think it takes into account the myth that in a high-turnout election Dems should easily sweep. Our system isn't really structured that way. A high turnout election where R turnout is flexible on the upside unlike in the past cancels that out.
Republicans managed to make Pelosi look like the villain when it comes to passing a Stimulus Bill for the American people even tho McConnell was the one who wasn’t even trying...she went on CNN and made the weakest of cases for herself and what the Democrats were trying to do all I saw were people grilling her and saying she doesn’t care about the American people when in actuality it was the Republicans hanging the public out to dry Republicans will be the ones fcking up, and then successfully manage to pin it on the Democrats
I remember that very well. And Megan Kelly pushing back, and finally just getting up: "Walk with me." And going to a map of Ohio, basically speaking as if to a child: "All the outstanding votes here.....these counties.....lots of black people. Who are they going to vote for, Obama or Romney? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. So, WTF, Chuck?"
she very well could be living in a bubble like that I’m fearful of what will happen when Trump can no longer be used as a prop to increase turnout and gain votes
I respect Pelosi and all she has done for the party, but the dems need new leaders, not crusty old, polarizing figures. It's high time for new blood.
Watching this internal unrest is so satisfying. It's like all the sane(ish) Republicans are seeing their opportunity to ditch Trump and they're taking it. Glorious.
for real...she’s 80, it’s about that time to retire gotta get some younger, more energetic leaders who can craft a good message and sell it to the American people some people I talk to always tell me the issue they have is that Democrats are always telling u why the other side is so bad, but not what they’re actually gonna do for u
Why don't you just say it -- that this country is not ready for a woman POTUS. I'm ready and I would vote for one, but I doubt 51% of the electorate are. We had a black president, twice, but Obama was a multi-generational type of candidate. When he delivered his stump speech, people were just enthralled, filled with new hope. The man won Indiana in 2008, a state no Democrat won in over half century before.
For all of the conservatives bringing God into this...they should probably blame God for Coronavirus too...
