Unfortunately if you examine the past 40 years of economic trends(median household debt adjusted greatly outpacing median household wages adjusted) along with a 1000% wealth gap between a median white and median black family, expect more social unrest.

Unfortunately some socialism might be the only answer to this. Do you think that's wrong? Do you those these trends exist?

This economy will always be a mixed economy system so don't strawman and think I want a Bolshevik Revolution. In fact, if you want to prevent that before these trends are sustained till breaking point you probably have to concede that some socialist policies are going to be needed to prevent a full on revolt.

Not so sure about that, Healthcare, the majority of the public agrees with.

What other 'socialist' policies did Dems run on?

The truth is just about anyone could have won this. Covid killed trump and boosted turnout to the moon.

This was not some historic approval of business as usual for democrats. To take that lesson here is a huge mistake.

I think Black voters are going to deliver Georgia to Team Blue. Nobody is going to notice it because by the time it's called, the race is already official, but, that's a ****ing huge development.

I don't think most GOP Senators or Representatives can be particularly happy with Trump's actions. He's going in a highly dangerous and uncharted waters with repercussions that go beyond partisan politics. You're talking about putting our status as a legitimate democracy in the eyes of the world at risk. I think the gravity of that is something that gives even Mitch McConnell a bad headache. There's a reason you aren't seeing many GOP leaders outside of his campaign back him in this direction. They can't follow him here. It literally can destroy the country and they know it.

Chris Christie said it best - what Trump did was a political blunder that will hurt him. He risks turning himself into a pariah because if the GOP can't follow him there (and frankly I bet many of them are relieved he lost), they will eventually abandon him when it becomes clear that he has no chance of winning and most of the party has come to accept the results. Mitch McConnell has already tossed the Dems an olive branch regarding passing Covid stimulus. You almost have to wonder now that Mitch got everything he wanted from Trump in terms of judges, whether he has no more use and is ready to dump the Trumpster fire.

The judges don't want to go down this road. Do you really think Neil Gorsuch wants to be known as the Justice who voted to end American democracy?

What happens if GOP leadership says in a week, "The American people have spoken, it's time to move on and accept the result"

At some point people will abandon Trump as unlike him, they don't want to burn the country to ground to stuff their ego.

This wasn't because of The Lincoln Project though.

Trump got the second most votes than any Pres in history and increased his republican votes from 2016. TLP was there to pander to those good republicans you guys always talk about.

There are no good republicans. Democrats need to stop begging.

These takes that your quoting presume there's some rational set of policies that Trump voters have in mind that they would gladly choose over Trump if offered by an alternative.

All evidence we have so far indicates there is no policy component to Trumpism. It's a tribal thing, that's it.

That's a huge get by the democrats. Hopefully, it will help Ossof in a runoff. Perdue is at 50.2% only.

Stopping Trump is a huge success. Maybe not for the Democratic party, but for America. Maybe a lot of people on the right won't see it that way, but future generations will.

Saving the country is a big deal. I'll take it as ugly as it is.

Thank you for being able to convey my thoughts so concisely. I grew up thinking of the Republican Party much as you have represented it above. We need to stop thinking in monoliths. I believe in nuance, especially when it comes to governing a country as vast and disparate as ours. There are things in the Republican Party I both agree and disagree with but in past years my agreements outweighed my disagreements. Things have changed with Trump as our President essentially hastening my disillusion with the direction of the party. I don’t think I am alone. I may come back in 4 years, but for now I will be happy to be rid of Trump and his embarrassment.
