As a moderate that leans right , I’m absolutely good with what happened as things look with who will keep the senate, who has the house and who might win the presidency. The people have spoken and if the elected President messes up , 4 years is not long ...get someone else . All good in the hood
I am absolutely fine with a Democratic White House and a split congress. Just wanted Trump gone. What will be interesting is to see how many Republicans play along with Biden now that the shadow of Trump will be lifted.
I don't think you are, but I think you, like many (myself probably included) suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome. That's not a knock on you, it's a commentary on the craziness that has enveloped this country the last four years. "TDS" affects both sides of the political spectrum...
Thank you for the extension of civility bro. Appreciate. Don’t get me wrong I preferred Trump, but he looked bad in several areas this year from the mask issue to his choice of words as well as the initial debate which I am on record saying I didn’t care for ...we need someone smarter and we kinda need a politician tbh , the answer is not a businessman with novice political savvy
The most interesting exit poll quote I read was from an Evangelical who said, "I didn't choose him to be my pastor or priest...I chose him to by my bodyguard". I'm like... are your children gonna let you get away with that thinking? They did it to rope in Ohio and Penn. This year, Biden aimed to appeal more to Wisconsin and Michigan, the states currently in a tossup. Way different than flyover Hillary, if only in optics. Progressive voices are disproportionately over represented on the internet. If cities accelerate liberal attitudes, the internet amplifies that by another degree. Quick litmus test...if you wouldn't be caught dead in a place like Columbus or St. Louis (not even Dirty South). then you probably don't know who Dems have to appeal to in those regions.
Well the other problem is that Trump isn't just a businessman. He's a horrible one and he sold to dumbasses that he was a great one. That's where a large disconnect is where people like you somehow see Trump as even a reasonable candidate for President.
agreed, and it might/should work out, at least for the presidency. but a blue wave it wasn't even close to, and given where we are in America under Trump, that's kind of embarassing. Not sure i agree entirely. I don't think they are over-represented. i think they are over-amplified. And that gets to the problem of marketing the party has in general. Who is doing the amplifying? Well, people and campaigns themselves, but through mediums like Facebook. Democrats don't know how to amplify back, appropriately. digging deeper into that, from all the various polling i've seen, there are a lot of "progressive" ideas that democrats, and in many cases, even republicans, are fine with. but when it comes to voting, because of marketing/messaging, it gets turned into socialism/communism that will inevitably fail and turn the country into a ****-show. Mind you, even in a time when the country has already been turned into a ****-show, just 180 the other way (hints of fascism). Think about the strength of that marketing.
Or, the disaffected dip$hit koolaid drinkers splinter the GOP asunder when they try to move back towards "normalcy." Like Frankenstein's monster.
just to make sure, Moscow Mitch'd be willing to work across the isle impeach Trump to prevent him from running for POTUS
To me, "moderate" doesn't simply mean you are not "far left" or "far right". A person's politics can't be measured along a single dimension like that. Trump is not a moderate politician, even if his political views don't conform to the traditional understanding of "far left" and "far right". If you are in alignment with Trump, then you are not a moderate. Just my opinion.
Tbf I wouldn’t say he’s a horrible business person. He had major achievements but there is a virtue of attraction of someone not in the political business that has common sense practicalities which is in line with someone not in government. Half the country sees government as somewhat cumbersome, inefficient and many times a waste of taxpayer funds
So about half the country that voted, chose Trump. Sometimes you have to make a choice and if you are a moderate that leans right then the choice is likely Trump for example, I’m good with certain areas of left thoughts such as government funded healthcare, and LGBTQ rights but I’m good with Bill of Rights including 2nd admendment and lesser government when possible and pro business
People like feel good ideas in polling but they're risk adverse in practice. There are quite a number of liberal ideas that aren't battle tested to the point where committing to them amounts to a certain leap of faith. "Defunding the police" is one because apparently the definitions are all over the place to the extent where Defunding doesn't mean defunding to certain people. Policy differences like healthcare can be debated down into scope. Progressives think the government should handle it, to which other people might agree but only on the state level. Four years ago, there wasn't even agreement within Democrats over how big healthcare should be, but we expected the rest of the nation to follow as if everything was all settled and planned out. There are just too many nuances in an increasingly complex society...
It's possible for someone to be moderate and still vote Republican, of course. The people who are seduced by Trump's BS and not totally turned off by it -- they don't seem moderate to me. Maybe that's not you.
