Personally I would rather vote for the Party itself like in Europe.

Separate party election and president election.

It's tiring to reconvene every 4 years and rally around 1 guy.

Also need more opportunities to vote for an agenda.

It was amazing watching the morning shows and everybody talking about how much of a disaster this was for the Dems {Looking at you Morning Joe}.

I had to get on here this morning to get the real picture { Thanks Donny}.

He stood for things in the way Biden has always stood for things. He's a "nice guy". He has things he stands for, but overall he's just kind of a nice guy. He stood for being from Scranton more than any actual policy. And we know this is true because this is basically what we heard from him.

Older folks will remember more vividly "forgettable" Biden who kind of stumbled and fumbled his way through is first two presidential races, much less the guy who kind of got rail-roaded when running the Clarence Thomas nomination.

Look, I like Joe. Cause indeed, he IS a nice guy and I do think he stands for decent things and his actual policy would reflect that.

And i get going out on more of a limb has risks as well.

So, we ready to call it?

Trump the first one termer since Bush Senior. Hope he doesn't let that deflate his massive ego.

Biden struggled this election because he didn't stand for anything; he didn't give anyone anything to vote for. He lost all his support from Latinos/Hispanics and Black people because he gave them nothing to vote for. Biden's whole campaign was "Nothing will fundamentally change" knowing that Trump was put in office (after an Obama presidency) because the country wanted change!

Dems are so afraid of standing for the working class because they are bought off by donors. They are afraid to run on common sense policy because it isn't profitable for them.

If a progressive can just get out of the primary there will be no turning back.

There is a reason Bernie had support from working class Trump republicans Latinos/Hispanics, Blacks, and liberals. We all want the same things.

I thought SNL Weekend Edition calling him a designated driver was perfect. (I mean, now that I think about it, except for the unfortunate resonance with his life's central tragedy.)

Pardon my naiveté but wouldn't it be better to hold more elections, and not Olympic games style, every 4 years?

Give more attention to Senate and House elections and it should be separated from the Presidential election at another date.

And nerf what the President can do.

It feels like the election turned into some popularity contest, a pageant.....and further away from real political content.

But is he the best candidate from the left when you have smarter and more charismatic people like mayor pete or moderates that might have been more willing to have a broader appeal like tulsi gabbard ?

I call him 'auto pilot'. America's version of an antacid tablet. Kinda gross, but you need it sometimes.

Ya Biden is just full of platitudes. Nuanced policy is something Biden was and never will be good at.

This sounds good and I agree on it as written but like Jiggly commented earlier. You could have had Latino JFK and it wouldn't have made that much of a difference.
Biden has surpassed Obama's popular vote total. I do want a candidate that can troll and not let them get away with the B.S but then the milk people that Biden won today, like in Wisconsin, might be offended and we're back to square one.

What I would really like for the Dems to do is to encourage Catholic leaders, Baptist leaders that do live by the real Jesus' gospel, not 401k Jesus, to be seen a little more? In Jesus' eyes that would also be wrong Matthew 6:5 but he'd be forgiving about it considering all their other vulgar hypocrisy. Definitely the Propaganda. It's like 6th grade propaganda coming from the Dems. Got to go all pro with it. 2 things the gop are excellent at, propaganda and appropriating religion on all the wrong scriptures.

Tulsi Gabbard doesn't have broader appeal. Mayor Pete is definitely a better candidate than Joe. He is far better at explaining policy. Biden just isn't good at that.

    https://www.dailyposter.com/p/six-takeaways-from-election-night

The Democratic ticket pretty much ran away from economic issues — sure, it had decent position papers, but economic transformation was not a huge part of its public messaging, and that failure buoyed Trump, according to exit polls from Edison Research.

Trump won 81 percent of the vote among the third of the electorate that listed the economy as its top priority. Even more amazing — Trump and Biden equally split the vote among those whose priority is a president who “cares about people like me.”

    ________________________________

This sums up the race to me there is no democratic candidate or message that would have broken through this, especially the voters who think Trump cares about them.

Hard to stress enough how important it will be for the Democratic party to come up with a plan to court latin-american voters more aggressively.

They were 7% of eligible voters in 2000, 10% in 2010, 13% in 2018 and climbing. African Americans have held steady at 12%. In Texas its obviously more stark (22%, 26%, 30%). Florida 11%, 16%, 20%.

I'm all for putting a progressive for 2024 and I certainly hope they can start building a strong coalition as of now.

At this point this has to be trolling, right?
No one can be this ignorant on every topic.

I didn't follow what Trump did but his economic numbers went through the roof despite Covid.

His first economic relief package seemed to have worked.

He was favored when the term 'economy' came into play.

I think he stood for more than that but you are entitled to your own opinion, so let's just agree to disagree.

I think the point here is to show that democrats pandering hard to moderate Republicans which they did heavily with not only chosing Joe but Joe throwing progressive policies under the bus over and over during the last couple of months especially in the debates and discussing GOP cabinet positions isn't effective. It's more effective to cater towards your base and get high turnout.
