What happens when you are dating a beautiful blonde with crazy eyes going through a divorce?

She invites you over to spend the night and tells her estranged husband you're there.

Six hours later, late at night, you wake up with the windows getting blown out by gunfire.

    Naturally you call the cops.

Being the hero you are, you offer to take said crazy blonde in.

Six days later, she gets plastered, goes batshit on you during a party at your place, tells you the whole jealousy plot while trying to kill you, and you call the cops.

She gets arrested, end of story.

    Or so it seems....

I called the cops once about 3 years ago. I was on my way home from work and was stopped at a light. The light turned green and I started to accelerate and see a guy trying to cross the street and it was too late and I hit him. I was on the farthest lane on the right on 249 near bammel right by the chevron (if you know the area) and I get out to check on the guy and pick up the broken piece to my truck. He walks away from me so I park in the gas station so I can check on him. I had to follow him behind the gas station and I lost him.
So I go back to my truck to decide what I'm going to do. My friend works as the fire house down the street so I called him to ask him if I needed to call the cops and he suggested I did so the person doesn't claim hit and run later. I get out to see if I by chance see him and I don't. I decide I'm going to leave. As I am getting in my truck this lady comes up to me starts yelling at me that she saw what I did and I was going to pay. Then the guy comes out from no where and I ask him if he's alright and he said needs some money for some pain meds. I told him we can call an ambulance if he was hurt. To make a long story short I had to call the cops cause that lady wouldn't shut up about me paying them money.

I've had the cops called on me a number of times by my neighbors (the same neighbors every time) because I have parties at my house.

I may have told this long story here before...

Back in the late '70's early '80's I lived a fairly bohemian lifestyle in a deep East Texas college town. Drove an old '66 Mustang that had once been a hot rod. Still looked like a hot rod so it drew a lot of attention from the local police force.

Especially when they realized it had not been inspected for several years. They knew my car and word obviously spread amongst local law enforcement and before you know it, I had quite a collection of vehicle inspection tickets and ultimately a warrant for my arrest for failing to pay them.

So I go to the courthouse to turn myself in, "Ma'am there's a warrant for my arrest and I want to turn myself in." The lady at the desk got wide eyed and asked what for, and I said, "Inspection sticker tickets." She laughed at me. When she got her composure she asked if I wanted to speak with the judge. I said, "Can I?"

The judge was cool other than suggesting I needed a haircut. He knocked off most of the tickets under the proviso that I get my car inspected or get it off the road. I told him, "I had to drive to work and school." He just looked at me and said he would have my car impounded if I got pulled over again.

Well, anyway I went to the sleaziest inspection joint in town and paid $10 extra for a sticker. Finally able to drive down North Street all proud of my sticker...I get pulled over. Again. I was laughing as he walked up and told him, pointing at my new sticker, "I know why you pulled me over but look, I got it inspected."

The cop says, "What kind of mufflers you got on this car son? Sound like glass packs to me." Gave me a ticket for excessive noise with a motorized vehicle. I drove back to the judge, who was now my best bud, and told him the story, "You know he pulled me over for my sticker and then just hassled me, right?"

He had to laugh and killed the ticket.

On Leno's Tonight show; they used to play this 911 call. A drunk lady called 911 because she was lonely and couldn't get a date.

Dispatcher lady was like "ma'am, you shouldn't call 911 for this, there are real emergency calls trying to get through".

    ---
It's one of those things where if you need help, you wish the cops are there and available.

Picture yourself driving and stopped at a red light. There's a cop car next to you. Do you put your hands on the 10 and 2 (steering wheel), mind check your seat belt is on, avoid eye contact, maybe even tense up a little, (even if technically you have nothing to worry about).

Or maybe you're someone that feels normal, or even 'safer'.

I asked this question to two buddies one white and one black (just B.S.ing around at lunch). You can guess which one said safer.

It's not necessary a race thing even; an age thing. When in late teens, early twenties, or if outward appearance was more hip hop ish, was more mindful.

Cops randomly check your plates to see if things turn up. It's also not illegal for them to lie to you to get information.

    ---
To the original question; yes have called 911, was ambulance for family medical emergency.

Lol. This is all cute. We put fishing line across Bellaire blvd with duct tape to catch the car with both ends of the fishing line tied to beer/soda cans. That got one Police car.

We also had another incident where a Police Officer was harrassing us and a friend threw a concrete block on top of a police car and ran. He was arrested...

My favorite was, and you can see the Parking Garage in my most recent pic here, we put black cat fireworks into the bottom of lit cigarettes and then called 911 saying we thought there was a disturbance in that garage. My buddy lived across the street, so we'd wait and watch the police slowly go through the garage. But once the first Firecracker went off? LOL. It was like Fast & the Furious in there.

    Damn Good Times.

    To your valid point:

No, I have never needed police
But I have had Police called on me for bogus reasons.

I think I've called 911 at least three times this year. Y'all don't witness crazy crap on the freeway? I think the first was an old man bicycling on the emergency lane. Saw a pedestrian probably die getting hit on Washington. Saw a naked dude walking downtown last week.

I called 911 for HPD after being robbed at gunpoint. I took down the license plate of their car and gave it to the cops. They said they'd let me know.

I never heard from them again.

Pretty boring story. Was at a friends in West U, when I left I didn't feel like I should drive so I rolled my windows down and was sleepin it off. No keys in the ignition. Officer sees me and decides to not only arrest me, but also tow my car, which was not only legally parked, but not even on the street. (they have indentions off the street to park.) Ended up with a night in jail and out of pocket cost of $400. And then for whatever reason they posted their activities on a Chron web page.

I spoke to a sergeant yesterday morning. He was pretty agreeable and said another sergeant would be calling me. Still waiting on that.

I thought this was going to end with you punching on the concrete, not even close to being Halloween.

Had the cops called to my house one time because "someone at our house parked in front of the fire hydrant". We had a small party for a football game one Sunday afternoon, not some my-parents-are-out-of-town midnight rager. So the cop, swear to god I've never seen a human male become an eye roll like this guy did. Guarantee he could not believe the words coming out of his own mouth. There's a small but entirely real chance he literally drove back to the precinct and quit directly after that call. Legit. Dude was not enamored with his duty. Zero ****s left, are we clear on that yet? Lol...

After being asked to move the vehicle I think I even said something like, "is everything else ok?" and he just said to make sure no one else parked there. Less than zero ****s. One of my homies back then was a firefighter and was like, yeah, we all relish the chance to kick out people's windows when they park in front of hydrants. Literally none of us care it's just a money maker ticket for the city. Don't even think he wrote the guest a ticket, just watched her move it back 15 ft and left.

So, it wasn't like we needed Sherlock to decipher who called him out. The house with the hydrant was owned by probably the douchiest marine any of us will ever meet (unless you're a marine? probably have better odds that way) and I referred to the guy as "Capt. Neighborhood" because he literally always had the whole of the neighborhood's children in or around his house. Like 20, 30 kids too, I had no idea whose kids they were or where they belonged. Not exaggerating at all. Anyway, Cap thought it would be funny to have the kids ding dong ditch my house in the weeks after we brought home our 1st born. I asked another neighbor who's kid I actually recognized to stop and she gave up Cap immediately. He was too coward to even open the door and talk to me like a man. So I said fine, every time it happens expect the cops at YOUR house. I tried. I asked you to stop, even though that's a flagrant foul.

Well, there were no more ding dongs to wake us from the precious sleep surrounding a 2 week old. My wife don't play that **** though, she was gonna get hers too lol so every time the guy revved his bike engine she informed the police. Day, night, whenever. It helped that the guy had a bike so loud that the dispatchers could always hear it. She would say "oh no ma'am, I'm in MY house right now" and 5 minutes later there they were.

Long story short, don't call the police on your neighbors for bullshit. They have phones too.

I've called the cops once, when my car was stolen a few years ago, they found it a block up away pretty banged up and not drivable, then they tried to act like I had done it and then called it in. The guy was a douche bag...........for the record I don't particularly like cops, I see to much aggression and an attitude that the shield puts them above the law so I am a bit jaded. I am sure most are good guys BUT I haven't really met one.

All of the felons I've met are actually okay people and the punishment they've served is ridiculous. The cop I know used to smoke 2 pounds of weed a year and do testosterone boosters because he wanted to be a body builder. Now he votes for Trump!
