    Two things can be true

Westbrook dealt with COVID and quad issues during the bubble, and he also has been a bad playoff basketball player for a majority of his career.

They aren't fun if you don't know how to refute them properly. Finals appearances are an output of team strength, health, strength of schedule, etc. You wouldn't use that to rate a player, though that seems to be all that casual NBA fans know how to do.

Ahh okay so Harden gets the benefit of stats and excuses for as far as why he hasn't won anything but when it comes to Westbrook "his stats are terrible, he's a bricker, takes away from Harden". Mind you this was Westbrook's first year with Houston who took a while to gel with the team and when he did he looked like his former MVP self.

His quad and getting COVID obviously hindered him in the playoffs. I'm not talking about previous years i'm talking about THIS year. So when ppl bring up Westbrook's previous playoffs with another team I have to bring up Harden's failures as well. Fair is fair.

There is absolutely nothing fair in comparing players by looking at one piece of information. The fact that neither has gotten to the finals literally gives you zero insight into what quality of players they have been over the time period.

I know some “fans” have taken the stance that numbers are evil and refuse to acknowledge them, but the level you have taken it puts you in a group of prehistoric thinkers.

Westbrook had an amazing stretch for about 5 weeks, in the middle of the regular season when we completely tailored a team around him for him to succeed. Prior to that 5 weeks he was having his worst season of his entire career. After that time he had the worst playoff run of his entire career. These are facts.

Your unbelievably shallow analysis is shameful honestly.

Wasn't Jeremy Lin on the Knicks playing at a Super Elite level for a couple weeks. Ya if Clips want him for Paul George then I'll take it!

So now Westbrook is on Jeremy Lin's level. Man I get that Rockets fans are frustrated but sheesh.

"When things got bad against the Blazers, Westbrook couldn’t contain himself. He started taking three pointers he can’t make, and jumpers the defense goaded him into. This season was the worst shooting season of his career, and as great as Lillard and the Blazers were, so much of this series was lost because the Thunder’s most visible star couldn’t stop himself from taking those bad shots.

Westbrook’s numbers in the series were awful. Out of five games, one outing was excellent, when he willed the Thunder to a victory in Game 3, and one was excusable, when he recorded a 24-point triple-double in Game 1. The others: a field goal percentage of 25 percent in Game 2, 23.8 percent in Game 4, and 35.5 percent in Game 5. His three-point percentage was even uglier, and yet he took more threes as the games went on. More than anything, this series put his glaring weaknesses in full view.

It’s tough for any team to be a true playoffs contender with a point guard who can’t really shoot, and it’s almost impossible with a point guard who can’t shoot and refuses to stop. In Game 4 he took 20 shots, and just three of them came in the paint, the area where he’s most effective. In Game 5, he took 11 more shots than George, including three more three-pointers, and was unsurprisingly the least efficient among all of the Thunder’s starters."

Russell Westbrook in Playoffs post Durant - .486 TS% through 22 games
    [IMG]
For those unaware, a .486 TS% is TERRIBLE. For reference, the League average TS% in the 2019-20 regular season was .563.

Since Durant left in 2015-16, Westbrook has averaged 26.6 PPG, 8.2 AST and 10.1 REB, which looks good on its face. However, when you consider he also averages 4.9 TOV and has shooting splits of .393/.299/.791 it shows that he has been woefully inefficient. oh and these numbers are even lower now with the completion of the season
