The hate on Westbrook is mind boggling. Before his injury and COVID he was playing at an ELITE super star level. Is everyone forgetting that?

You seriously think this would put us closer to a title?

The Rockets have one of the worst owners in sports, no picks, no flexibility, aging stars, one of whom is actively harmful to the team, and just lost the best GM in the league.

    Yeah....POSITIVITY!!!

It's kind of hard to judge, though. Because the advanced stats tell a different story, and he was been pretty pedestrian his last couple of years in OKC. Plus, his postseason stats are pretty abysmal. So, do we take his play from February-March as the "real" Westbrook and assume he's that guy, or was that 6-week stretch just an anomaly, and he's really the low IQ, out-of-control chucker we all thought he was? I tend to lean toward the latter, but I'd love it if he could prove me wrong.

You seriously read what I wrote and interpreted as putting "us closer to a title"? I simply stated that I would take/accept/"roll with" that package from the Clippers in exchange for Russ. This team, as it is, has a defined ceiling. I rather take my chances with that package for one year and have flexibility to make moves after one year. That flexibility, as it is now, is nonexistent with Westbrook on the roster.

Here is the evolution of Rockets Russ:

    Part 1 - let’s shoot all the 3s!!!! Yeah!!!!

Part 2 - oh no! He can’t shoot the 3. Let’s have him drive! Oh look, that works!!

Part 3 - oh no! You can’t get to the paint on literally every possession. Teams adjust. Let’s add just a few of those mid-range Js...

Part 4 - MID RANGE RUSS ACTIVATED. Bricks galore.

Part 5 - NO! Mid range Russ bad. Just stand there in the corner.

More like Dec to Mar though.

Peeps were awfully quiet in here at that time. Then they waited for the post injury, post covid, return in the middle of the playoffs Russ to spike the football. Amusing.

If Russell Westbrook and Eric Gordon were 1 player he would help Harden.

The roster needs height at Center.

Yup the few westbrick stans that are left don’t take into account the entire story. They just hold onto the small stretch of games to say he’s amazing when he isn’t. Nvm the fact that the beginning of the season was a much bigger sample size. Then when the rockets are forced to alter their lineup and throw away a big man just so he can fit because he was so bad, he’s all of a sudden good. They literally had to change this just for 1 guy. Then just before the pause the rockets go through a 1-2 week stretch of losses and begin to struggle as the league adjusts to their lineup. Then when reports from woj are westbrick looks as explosive as ever, they want to blame covid and injuries as a gimmick excuse. No westbrick is the same player he’s always been. Stop with the dumb excuses. When he sucks again this year, there’s going to be more dumb excuses somewhere, only this time morey/mda are elsewhere enjoying themselves in a much better environment

If you are merging players together I’d rathe emerge Westbrook with PJ Tucker.

I’ll take Zubac and PG for Russ and Danuel House.
    Harden
    PG
    Tucker
    Covington
    Zubac
With a bench of Rivers, Gordon, BMac, Jeff and Gerald green, and Noel (I’m assuming Nerlens signs with us). Works for both sides, Clippers get their playmaker, a young 3&D guy in House. Rockets get PG and a starting center so they can move Tucker to play the 3 or 4, and play the 5 for certain matchups.

Exactly now they act like guy can't play because he isn't 3pt shooter... it ****ing makes me sick to my stomach for these people that never played basketball to think that you either are 3point shooter or you are uselss. Healthy Westbrook is elite and every team in the NBA would take him for reasonable to high price

It has little to do with 3s. Sure, that's part of it, but you can definitely be a dominant player without being a 3 point shooter. But if you can't shoot 3s, you have to be able to shoot midrange (as a guard). The problem is Russ can't do that either. As a guard who can't shoot at all, I just don't think that can work in the playoffs. In the regular season we saw his insane stretch where he got to the basket more than anyone in the league (even more points at the rim than Giannis...) but in the playoffs teams will take that away. And when they take that away from him, now what?

Yes, it's mindboggling than a player who was terrible for 3 straight postseasons was terrible again in the postseason. Mindboggling stuff indeed.

Fairly disingenuous, as the offense Mike D created around Westbrook was vastly different to the one created for him in OKC the last few years.

We did not get to see a healthy Westbrook in the system that was making him remarkably efficient for 3-4 months straight.
