I'm not as down on Westbrook as lot of folks here. CP3 had an off year with the Rockets then bounced back. It is what it is.

If JJ takes a charge, the other guy falls from running into a brick wall.

i would take a 1-yr PG13 rental for Westbrook just to get out of that Westbrook contract, while still competing.

I was more down on Russ when we first traded for him than I am now. I think he's completely underrated. I felt the same way about CP3 before we traded him last year. Sometimes you need to know when to hold em.

He is an elite talent who needs to get his health in order for next season.

I just can't with this team. Would a little continuity hurt so much??

    Geezus.

Add a big man, a bench creator and some wing depth and keep the core seven. Russ, Harden, RoCo, PJ, Eric, House, and Ben Mc. It's not a bad starting point at all and there are options and different ways to add a big man and a bench creator. The cap situation is dicey but it's time for Tilman to pay the tax. The MLE for the best player the team can add and the minimum for the rest.

    ....

I agree with both. I'm torn. Russell has his qualities but if he isn't healthy then he doesn't.

PG13 would be nice but isn't happening. Probably.

If George and Russ have been talking about teaming up (again...as if the first time wasn't bad enough) and if the Clippers want Westbrook that's fine. Give me Lou, Beverley, Zubac, JaMychal Green, and Shamet. That's a total of about $35 million in salaries right there. Add in a scrub or two to make the salaries match. I'll roll with a starting lineup of:

    Zubac
    Tucker
    Covington
    Harden
    Beverley

With a bench mob group of Shamet, Gordon, Williams, 2 Greens (JaMychal and re-signed Jeff), and House.

Ivica Zubac reminds me of of a younger Marc Gasol.

Does tilman go into the tax to try to stick it to morey? He has an ego.

Westbrook is literally the worst volume shooter of all time. The GOAT in bad shooting.

I would take ANYTHING that translates to positive value in exchange for him. Pure cap space would be an acceptable trade.

his value is his athleticism, and he’s past his prime there. Unless he channels his inner Vince Carter, we are looking at a complete crash and burn here in the next few years.

I think you're forgetting a player name Allen Iverson. Russ takes bad shots but Iverson was a lot worse.

The difference is Iverson made it to a NBA finals.

even the bricky Iverson can’t beat Russ

    Minimum 500 games played
    2.5+ 3PA minimum
    1. Russell Westbrook - 30.4%
    2. Jerry Stackhouse - 30.9%
    3. Monta Ellis - 31.3%
    4. Allen Iverson - 31.3%
    5. Gary Payton - 31.7%
I don’t know that any of it matters if Russ doesn’t learn to shoot.

    “we need a stretch 5”
    “we need a playmaking forward”
“We need a legit PnR 5”
    “We need another shooter/playmaker guard”

let’s say you bring back all of your core rotation: Westbrook, Harden, Gordon, House, Covington and Tucker. Add to that Nwaba turns out to be legit and we get a stretch 5 that can rim protect. If Westbrook is your primary ball handler 50% of the time, but he can’t shoot, does any of that matter?
