It’s what the terrorists want. That’s why they picked the targets they did.

I haven't said that even once that it is "just" because they are young and male. Statistics were given earlier in the thread about the disproportionality of criminal activity among the refugee population. I am speaking to that.

Do you support the PRC approach rounding up all Muslims and forcing them to renounce their Islamic faith? If the problem is simply I-S-L-A-M, what other solution is there, beyond that or forced deportation of all Muslims?

And if you think you can force them to become more moderate by aggressively attacking their religion, I can assure you that will have the exact opposite effect.

Yeah, it isn’t a few and the tension is palpable in parts of Europe. I do not have a wonderful easy answer. What I can tell you is that there are immigrants in these places that do not want to acculturate and further, for religious reasons do not think they CAN acculturate.

There are isolated stats for age groups and demographics, but even then refugees come out completely disproportional on top.

Yes, a lot of refugees are young males, but the problem is way more about the culture, norms and religion that they have in their home country and family.
Where they are from, females are often seen as trash and can be groped or raped with little retribution, when there's an argument or your "honor" is insulted, you are more likely to bring out the knife or curbstomp the other person.

As Malakas mentioned, it's especially bad with certain nationalities like Afghans, I'd also add Northern Africans as some of the worst offenders.

The Egyptian president our new "ally" against Turkey sent an official memo to the ministers of exteriors of Cyprus and Greece last month that Erdogan has hired many Syrian jihadist fighters, armed them and is planning to send them over here.

I could give you a link but it's not in english.

    I really don't understand it.
Merkel's aim was to find cheap hands and population but when you have a young intergrated asylum seeker that has joined the work force after educating him for years they want to send him back and keep the ones who only take benefits and have no will to intergrate at all.

Maybe your friend should "disappear" too and move counties?

No, you are not, because the stats are still completely disproportionate.

    Obviously not.

Education and a complete reform of Islam. Either it reforms itself or it - not the people as such, but the dangerous ideology of political Islam - must be exposed, criticized, pushed back.

Interesting. So you are saying that attacking things like discrimination of women, gays, intolerance towards any form of criticism or satire, majority approval for killing of apostates, majority approval for putting own religious beliefs above the law, etc. etc. etc. should just go unchecked, in order to not "offend" and "create the opposite effect"? Go away with that nonsense. I will call a terrible ideology a terrible ideology. I will call a bad idea a bad idea. And, to quote Sam Harris, Islam is the motherlode of bad ideas.

As evidenced by Islamists murdering innocent civilians in the center of Vienna, while you are trying to relativize this violence by saying it's statistically just because they are young men, and saying one should not criticize their religion because it could have an opposite effect.

Seriously, piss off with that bullshit.

He's too much of an honest person for that I think and at first didn't even want to contest the initial court decision, we had to support and motivate the f out of him to get his spirits back up.

And yea, verdicts like this make zero sense when you see what scum get to stay here, guys like him would be the best advert you can get to show refugees can add value to Germany and integrate successfully.

Where I live in the US has a large Somali population with my neighborhood having a lot of them. There is mosque a block away and Rep. Ilhan Omar's campaign office is in my neighborhood. There have been some problems with a few young Somalis getting radicalized and joining and DAESH while we have had some crime committed by Somali youth. Overall though the Somalis are much more the victims of crime, including the bombing of a mosque, vandalism of Somali businesses and during the George Floyd protests there was an attempted bombing of a Somali business.

Within the community itself there are programs that are anti-radicalization and there was a lot of concern when some left MN to go fight in Syria.

I won't say that the Somali integration into the US is smooth but it certainly has shown that an Islamic refugee population can be integrated and contribute to Western society.

I don’t think it’s completely a poverty issue: Bin Laden was wealthy.

Islam arose from bloodshed. The religion has been about surviving despite near constant attempts at eradication from its start. So the most pious adherents will be more easily swayed by violent rhetoric by the mullahs, and conservative elements in Islamic majority countries couldn’t give two ***** about curbing their state sponsored mullahs encouraging violence.

Islam is violent. This does not mean the world would be at peace without it. But Islam enables its followers to feel justified in their killing of others. Islam like the other Abrahamic faiths is the worship of the fusion of El (the Semitic King of Gods) and Yaweh (the Judaic storm and warrior deity and eventually national deity). It makes sense that it would not be a pacifist faith. We are literally following a religion with origins from the first recorded civilization.

Those rites and rituals that served us well in the Iron Age. But unless those rules are accepted by the community at whole, they will be sources of conflict. We are still those same humans from prehistory.

Not to be a dick, but how would you even call out these things in a non-aggressive or helpful manner, if I may ask?

"We'd appreciate it if ya didn't treat women like trash, rape&grope them and lock them indoors, it's not cool hmkay"

"We'd appreciate it if ya wouldn't call for the heads of politicians that defend freedom of speech, while we are at it it would also be cool to not massacre innocent civilians just because they don't believe in your values".

"Maybe Mohammad isn't that cool of a guy, seeing how he married a child and founded your religion on the pillars of mass murder, violence and hate".

"Hey, maybe stop cherry picking the Quran and leaving out all the calls for murder and violence against non-believers, it seems a bit dishonest and deflects blame amirite."

The fundamental issues of that religion and many of its followers are so insanely glaring that it's literally impossible to discuss em in a polite manner, as you'll only be confronted with lies and whataboutism.

Sorry to drag this back to US politics but Erdogan and the Saudis have pushed radicalization. The Saudis for decades have been radicalizing other Islamic groups from SE Asia to Bosnia by funding Wahabbism. While Trump spouts a lot of anti-Islamic rhetoric he has bent over backwards to accommodate and defend the Saudis. It's notable that his famous Muslim ban didn't include Saudi Arabia even though that was the country where 15 of the 19 911 hijackers came from and the masterminds.

At the same time he's also praised and admired Erdogan and it does seem coincidental that not long after he pulled back support for the Kurds Ivanka Trump went to Istanbul to celebrate the anniversary of Trump Tower there.

Follows the Paris attacks and several other large-scale terrorist attacks. This has likely been planned for months and was carried out a bit prematurely due to the impending lockdown.

There was a quote from a show that resonated with me that said people who won’t kill will be ruled those who will. I think the conflict ultimately is because both groups are willing to kill to maintain/enforce their power over the other.

The other quote is from Starship troopers:
"Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor."

The solution isn’t concentration camps like PRC. That will never be the solution.... at the end of the day these nations either pay these people to leave or they hope that over 2-3 generations they acculturate.

In large measure Muslims in the USA acculturate quickly, and in many cases become agnostic or atheist. There isn’t a “Muslim problem” in America.

However the situation in Europe is very different. Europeans are more discriminating against them but the radical beliefs and actions of Muslim refugees in Europe is 100X stronger than in the USA. Many of the Muslims in Europe are from fundamentalist, war torn and extremist places. They are often opportunists that lie about being Syrian. I have heard Muslims in places like London openly campaign for Sharia Law and the replacement of democracy with a theocracy.

My solution is free trade and capitalism. Promote the middle class of these Islamic majority nations and the stability and welfare will shoot up.

    Trade should benefit both parties.

Edit: although China has a growing middle class, stability, and their government is as illiberal as it gets.
